Weak externals are resolved statically, so we can actually generate the tail
call on PE/COFF targets without breaking the requirements. It is questionable
whether we want to propagate the current behaviour for MachO as the requirements
are part of the ARM ELF specifications, and it seems that prior to the SVN
r215890, we would have tail'ed the call. For now, be conservative and only
permit it on PE/COFF where the call will always be fully resolved.

Correct the line information generation for preprocessed assembly. Although we
tracked the source information for the macro instantiation, we failed to account
for the fact that we were instantiating a macro, which is populated into a new
buffer and that the line information would be relative to the definition rather
than the actual instantiation location. This could cause the line number
associated with the statement to be very high due to wrapping of the difference
calculated for the preprocessor line information emitted into the stream.
Properly calculate the line for the macro instantiation, referencing the line
where the macro is actually used as GCC/gas do.
The test case uses x86, though the same problem exists on any other target using
the LLVM IAS.

This introduces the symbol rewriter. This is an IR->IR transformation that is
implemented as a CodeGenPrepare pass. This allows for the transparent
adjustment of the symbols during compilation.
It provides a clean, simple, elegant solution for symbol inter-positioning. This
technique is often used, such as in the various sanitizers and performance
analysis.
The control of this is via a custom YAML syntax map file that indicates source
to destination mapping, so as to avoid having the compiler to know the exact
details of the source to destination transformations.

This restores the commit from SVN r219899 with an additional change to ensure
that the CodeGen is correct for the case that was identified as being incorrect
(originally PR7272).
In the case that during inlining we need to synthesize a value on the stack
(i.e. for passing a value byval), then any function involving that alloca must
be stripped of its tailness as the restriction that it does not access the
parent's stack no longer holds. Unfortunately, a single alloca can cause a
rippling effect through out the inlining as the value may be aliased or may be
mutated through an escaped external call. As such, we simply track if an alloca
has been introduced in the frame during inlining, and strip any tail calls.

Make tail recursion elimination a bit more aggressive. This allows us to get
tail recursion on functions that are just branches to a different function. The

The set of functions defined in the RTABI was separated for no real reason.
This brings us closer to proper utilisation of the functions defined by the
RTABI. It also sets the ground for correctly emitting function calls to AEABI
functions on all AEABI conforming platforms.
The previously existing lie on the behaviour of __ldivmod and __uldivmod is
propagated as it is beyond the scope of the change.
The changes to the test are due to the fact that we now use the divmod functions
which return both the quotient and remainder and thus we no longer need to
invoke two functions on Linux (making it closer to EABI's behaviour).

For many Thumb-1 register register instructions, setting the CPSR is not
permitted inside an IT block. We would not correctly flag those instructions.
The previous change to identify this scenario was insufficient as it did not
actually catch all the instances. The current list is formed by manual
inspection of the ARMv6M ARM.
The change to the Thumb2 IT block test is due to the fact that the new more
stringent checking of the MIs results in the If Conversion pass being prevented
from executing (since not all the instructions in the BB are predicable). This
results in code gen changes.
Thanks to Tim Northover for pointing out that the previous patch was
insufficient and hinting that the use of the v6M ARM would be much easier to use
than the v7 or v8!
git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@215382 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
The ARM ARM states that CPSR may not be updated by a MUL in thumb mode. Due to
an ordering of Thumb 2 Size Reduction and If Conversion, we would end up
generating a THUMB MULS inside an IT block.
The If Conversion pass uses the TTI isPredicable method to ensure that it can
transform a Basic Block. However, because we only check for IT handling on
Thumb2 functions, we may miss some cases. Even then, it only validates that the
CPSR is not *live* rather than it is not accessed. This corrects the handling
for that particular case since the same restriction does not hold on the vast
majority of the instructions.
This does prevent the IfConversion optimization from kicking in in certain
cases, but generating correct code is more valuable. Addresses PR20555.

The subtarget information is the ultimate source of truth for the feature set
that is enabled at this point. We would previously not propagate the feature
information to the subtarget. While this worked for the most part (features
would be enabled/disabled as requested), if another operation that changed the
feature bits was encountered (such as a mode switch via a .arm or .thumb
directive), we would end up resetting the behaviour of the architectural
extensions.
Handling this properly requires a slightly more complicated handling. We need
to check if the feature is now being toggled. If so, only then do we toggle the
features. In return, we no longer have to calculate the feature bits ourselves.
The test changes are mostly to the diagnosis, which is now more uniform (a nice
side effect!). Add an additional test to ensure that we handle this case
properly.

When performing a dynamic stack adjustment without optimisations, we would mark

The header contains an offset to the DWARF abbreviations for the CU. The offset
must be section relative for COFF and absolute for others. The non-assembly
code path for the DWARF header generation already had the correct emission for
the headers. This corrects just the assembly path. Due to the invalid
relocation, processing of the debug information would halt previously on the
first assembly input as the associated abbreviations would be out of range as
they would have the location increased by image base and the section offset.
This address PR20332.

Rather than use three EmitBytes, concatenate the string at compile time,
constructing a single StringRef and emitting the data in one shot. This also
creates nicer assembly output. NFC.

This makes the opcode an opaque value (unsigned int) rather than the
enumeration. This permits the use of target specific operands.
Split out the generic type into a MCWinEH header and add a supporting
MCWin64EH::Instruction to abstract out the selection of the opcode and
construction of the actual instruction.

We would emit a libcall for a 64-bit atomic on x86 after SVN r212119. This was
due to the misuse of hasCmpxchg16 to indicate if cmpxchg8b was supported on a
32-bit target. They were added at different times and would result in the
border condition being mishandled.
This fixes the border case to emit the cmpxchg8b instruction for 64-bit atomic
operations on x86 at the cost of restoring a long-standing bug in the codegen.
We emit a cmpxchg8b on all x86 targets even where the CPU does not support this
instruction (pre-Pentium CPUs). Although this bug should be fixed, this was
present prior to SVN r212119 and this change, so this is not really introducing
a regression.

Found during windows unwinding work. This header is indirectly included through
a chain leading through Support/Win64EH.h. Explicitly include the header. NFC.

This is the first of a number of changes designed to generalise
MCWin64EHInstruction to support different target architectures. An ordered set
(vector) of these instructions is saved per frame to permit the emission of
information for Windows NT style unwinding. The only bit of information which
is actually target specific here is the Opcode for the unwinding bytecode. The
remainder of the information is simply generic information that is relevant to
the Windows NT unwinding model.
Remove the accessors for the fields, making them const and public instead. Sink
the knowledge of the alias'ed name into the single source and sink a single-use
check method into the use.

Rename member variables and functions for the MCStreamer for DWARF-like
unwinding management. Rename the Windows ones as well and make the naming and
handling similar across the two. No functional change intended.

This adds a llvm.aarch64.hint intrinsic to mirror the llvm.arm.hint in order to
support the various hint intrinsic functions in the ACLE.
Add an optional pattern field that permits the subclass to specify the pattern
that matches the selection. The intrinsic pattern is set as mayLoad, mayStore,
so overload the value for the definition of the hint instruction.

Due to the fact that the windows unwinding has the concept of chained frames, we
maintain a current frame info pointer that is adjusted on any push and pop of a
unwinding context. This just removes an unnecessary variable that was used to
mirror the DWARF unwinding code.
git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@212882 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
This structure contains information related to the call frame used to generate
unwinding information. Rename this to reflect the future use to represent the
shared state between various architectures for WinCFI information.

This adds a utility method to access the WinCFI information in bulk and uses
that to iterate rather than requesting the count and individually iterating
them. This is in preparation for restructuring WinCFI handling to enable more
clear sharing across architectures to enable unwind information emission for
Windows on ARM.

This completes the handling for DLL import storage symbols when lowering
instructions. A DLL import storage symbol must have an additional load
performed prior to use. This is applicable to variables and functions.
This is particularly important for non-function symbols as it is possible to
handle function references by emitting a thunk which performs the translation
from the unprefixed __imp_ symbol to the proper symbol (although, this is a
non-optimal lowering). For a variable symbol, no such thunk can be
accommodated.

Add support for tracking DLLImport storage class information on a per symbol
basis in the ARM instruction selection. Use that information to correctly
mangle the symbol (dllimport symbols are referenced via *__imp_<name>).
git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@212430 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
Ensure that all paths that retrieve the symbol name go through GetARMGVSymbol
rather than getSymbol. This is desirable so that any global symbol mangling can
be centralised to this function. The motivation for this is handling of symbols
that are marked as having dll import dll storage. Such a symbol requires an
extra load that is currently handled in the backend and a __imp_ prefix on the
symbol name.

A number of the ARM intrinsics are aliased with alternative names in MSVC
compatibility mode. This change indicates those intrinsics to permit tablegen
to construct an appropriate list of MSBuiltins. With the corresponding change
in clang, these intrinsics can then be mapped from the frontend.
The tests to validate the intrinsics are aliased correctly will be added with
the corresponding clang change.
git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@212377 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
Add MSBuiltin which is similar in vein to GCCBuiltin. This allows for adding
intrinsics for Microsoft compatibility to individual instructions. This is
needed to permit the creation of ARM specific MSVC extensions.
This is not currently in use, and requires an associated change in clang to
enable use of the intrinsics defined by this new class. This merely sets the
LLVM portion of the infrastructure in place to permit the use of this
functionality. A separate set of changes will enable the new intrinsics.

Based on the support for .req on ARM. The aarch64 variant has to keep track if
the alias register was a vector register (v0-31) or a general purpose or
VFP/Advanced SIMD ([bhsdq]0-31) register.

This exception format is not specific to Windows x64. A similar approach is
taken on nearly all architectures. Generalise the name to reflect reality.
This will eventually be used for Windows on ARM data emission as well.
Switch the enum and namespace into an enum class.

Rename the routines to reflect the reality that they are more related to call
frame information than to Win64 EH. Although EH is implemented in an intertwined
manner by augmenting with an exception handler and an associated parameter, the
majority of these routines emit information required to unwind the frames. This
also helps identify that these routines are generic for most windows platforms
(they apply equally to nearly all architectures except x86) although the
encoding of the information is architecture dependent.
Unwinding data is emitted via EmitWinCFI* and exception handling information via
EmitWinEH*.
