Eli Friedman a8fa392691 Use std::string instead of StringRef in ClangAttrEmitter.cpp; per report on 
cfe-dev, fixes an error compiling with MSVC.  Using a StringRef here doesn't
look safe in any case.

Eli Friedman 268637ed0f Implement expansion in type legalization for add/sub with overflow. The 
expansion is the same as that used by LegalizeDAG.

The resulting code sucks in terms of performance/codesize on x86-32 for a
64-bit operation; I haven't looked into whether different expansions might be
better in general.

Eli Friedman a993f0a45f Don't try to custom-lower 64-bit add-with-overflow and friends on x86-32; the 
x86 backend currently doesn't know how to handle them.

This doesn't really fix anything because LegalizeTypes doesn't know how to
handle them either.  We do get a better error message, though.

Eli Friedman 12bb766ae9 Fix for PR3016: detect the tricky case, where there are 
unfoldable references to a PHI node in the block being folded, and disable
the transformation in that case.  The correct transformation of such PHI
nodes depends on whether BB dominates Succ, and dominance is expensive 
to compute here.  (Alternatively, it's possible to check whether any 
uses are live, but that's also essentially a dominance calculation. 
Another alternative is to use reg2mem, but it probably isn't a good idea to
use that in simplifycfg.)

Also, remove some incorrect code from CanPropagatePredecessorsForPHIs 
which is made unnecessary with this patch: it didn't consider the case 
where a PHI node in BB has multiple uses.

Eli Friedman e2c7408199 Remove -disable-mips-abicall and -enable-mips-absolute-call command-line 
options, which don't appear to be useful.  -enable-mips-absolute-call is
completely unused (and unless I'm mistaken, is supposed to have the 
same effect that -relocation-model=dynamic-no-pic should have), 
and -disable-mips-abicall appears to be effectively a 
synonym for -relocation-model=static. Adjust the few users of hasABICall
to checks which seem more appropriate.  Update MipsSubtarget, 
MipsTargetMachine, and MipselTargetMachine to synchronize with recent 
changes.

Eli Friedman f67e84edef Hack to make this test work on platforms which aren't Macs. Fixing this 
myself because I'm getting tired of seeing the red buildbots, which have 
been red since 5:30PM PDT last night.

Proposed supplement to developer policy: committers should make sure to 
be around to watch for buildbot failures after committing.

Eli Friedman 6dae757a07 Don't give a massive inlining cost bonus to available_externally 
functions with a single use; eliminating the single use may eliminate 
the function from the current module, but usually doesn't eliminate 
it from the final program.

Eli Friedman b3e7171926 Remove shift amount flavor. It isn't actually complete enough to 
be useful, and it's currently unused.  (Some issues: it isn't actually 
rich enough to capture the semantics on many architectures, and
semantics can vary depending on the type being shifted.)

Eli Friedman a786c7b90c Don't override LowerArguments in the SPARC backend. In addition to 
being more consistent with other backends, this makes the SPARC backend 
deal with functions with arguments with illegal types correctly, which 
fixes some tests in test/CodeGen/Generic.

Eli Friedman 796492dc4b Switch Alpha over to the new call lowering style. New code mostly 
copied from the SystemZ target.  I don't think this causes any 
significant changes to the output (I compared the assembly, and the 
results appeared to be essentially unchanged), although I don't actually 
have an Alpha to test on.

I would appreciate if anyone with the appropriate hardware could test 
this. I'm not sure if that includes anyone subscribed to llvm-commits, 
though.

Eli Friedman 2451a64687 Canonicalize bitcasts between types like <1 x i64> and i64 to 
insertelement/extractelement.

I'm not entirely sure this is precisely what we want to do: should we 
prefer bitcast(insertelement) or insertelement(bitcast)?  Similarly. should we 
prefer extractelement(bitcast) or bitcast(extractelement)?
