a520577e7e Re-unique_ptrify LoadedObjectInfo::clone after it was reverted due to some other changes that broke on GCC around the same time
Apparently this functionality isn't used in-tree (or I would go & make
the explicit unique_ptr constructions into implicit constructions to
make them more self documenting now that clone doesn't return a raw
owning pointer anymore) but only by the Julia frontend. This isn't
ideal.

ea36630528 Retry defaulting the virtual dtor in LoadedObjectInfo
Originally committed in r237975, GCC 4.7 gave a compilation error
regarding "looser throw specification" though it seemed to be pointing
to a virtual defaulted dtor in a base class and an override defaulted
dtor in a derived class - so I'm not quite sure why/how they could end
up with different throw specifications. To simplify and reduce the risk
of this, I've just removed the pointless override in the derived class,
the base class's should be sufficient. *fingers crossed*

As noted in the original review, this is unused in tree & is used by
Julia... that's problematic. This API coudl easily be deleted/modified
by accident without any validation that it remains correct.

b6976af3cd Make it easier to use DwarfContext with MCJIT
Summary:
This supersedes http://reviews.llvm.org/D4010, hopefully properly
dealing with the JIT case and also adds an actual test case.
DwarfContext was basically already usable for the JIT (and back when
we were overwriting ELF files it actually worked out of the box by
accident), but in order to resolve relocations correctly it needs
to know the load address of the section.
Rather than trying to get this out of the ObjectFile or requiring
the user to create a new ObjectFile just to get some debug info,
this adds the capability to pass in that info directly.
As part of this I separated out part of the LoadedObjectInfo struct
from RuntimeDyld, since it is now required at a higher layer.

da62155c11 [MCJIT][Orc] Refactor RTDyldMemoryManager, weave RuntimeDyld::SymbolInfo through
MCJIT.

This patch decouples the two responsibilities of the RTDyldMemoryManager class,
memory management and symbol resolution, into two new classes:
RuntimeDyld::MemoryManager and RuntimeDyld::SymbolResolver.

The symbol resolution interface is modified slightly, from:

  uint64_t getSymbolAddress(const std::string &Name);

to:

  RuntimeDyld::SymbolInfo findSymbol(const std::string &Name);

The latter passes symbol flags along with symbol addresses, allowing RuntimeDyld
and others to reason about non-strong/non-exported symbols.


The memory management interface removes the following method:

  void notifyObjectLoaded(ExecutionEngine *EE,
                          const object::ObjectFile &) {}

as it is not related to memory management. (Note: Backwards compatibility *is*
maintained for this method in MCJIT and OrcMCJITReplacement, see below).


The RTDyldMemoryManager class remains in-tree for backwards compatibility.
It inherits directly from RuntimeDyld::SymbolResolver, and indirectly from
RuntimeDyld::MemoryManager via the new MCJITMemoryManager class, which
just subclasses RuntimeDyld::MemoryManager and reintroduces the
notifyObjectLoaded method for backwards compatibility).

The EngineBuilder class retains the existing method:

  EngineBuilder&
  setMCJITMemoryManager(std::unique_ptr<RTDyldMemoryManager> mcjmm);

and includes two new methods:

  EngineBuilder&
  setMemoryManager(std::unique_ptr<MCJITMemoryManager> MM);

  EngineBuilder&
  setSymbolResolver(std::unique_ptr<RuntimeDyld::SymbolResolver> SR);

Clients should use EITHER:

A single call to setMCJITMemoryManager with an RTDyldMemoryManager.

OR (exclusive)

One call each to each of setMemoryManager and setSymbolResolver.

This patch should be fully compatible with existing uses of RTDyldMemoryManager.
If it is not it should be considered a bug, and the patch either fixed or
reverted.

If clients find the new API to be an improvement the goal will be to deprecate
and eventually remove the RTDyldMemoryManager class in favor of the new classes.

61bd005d1b [RuntimeDyld] Track symbol visibility in RuntimeDyld.
RuntimeDyld symbol info previously consisted of just a Section/Offset pair. This
patch replaces that pair type with a SymbolInfo class that also tracks symbol
visibility. A new method, RuntimeDyld::getExportedSymbolLoadAddress, is
introduced which only returns a non-zero result for exported symbols. For
non-exported or non-existant symbols this method will return zero. The
RuntimeDyld::getSymbolAddress method retains its current behavior, returning
non-zero results for all symbols regardless of visibility.

No in-tree clients of RuntimeDyld are changed. The newly introduced
functionality will be used by the Orc APIs.

No test case: Since this patch doesn't modify the behavior for any in-tree
clients we don't have a good tool to test this with yet. Once Orc is in we can
use it to write regression tests that test these changes.

7acaefabf6 [MCJIT] Clean up RuntimeDyld's quirky object-ownership/modification scheme.
Previously, when loading an object file, RuntimeDyld (1) took ownership of the
ObjectFile instance (and associated MemoryBuffer), (2) potentially modified the
object in-place, and (3) returned an ObjectImage that managed ownership of the
now-modified object and provided some convenience methods. This scheme accreted
over several years as features were tacked on to RuntimeDyld, and was both
unintuitive and unsafe (See e.g. http://llvm.org/PR20722).

This patch fixes the issue by removing all ownership and in-place modification
of object files from RuntimeDyld. Existing behavior, including debugger
registration, is preserved.

Noteworthy changes include:

(1) ObjectFile instances are now passed to RuntimeDyld by const-ref.
(2) The ObjectImage and ObjectBuffer classes have been removed entirely, they
    existed to model ownership within RuntimeDyld, and so are no longer needed.
(3) RuntimeDyld::loadObject now returns an instance of a new class,
    RuntimeDyld::LoadedObjectInfo, which can be used to construct a modified
    object suitable for registration with the debugger, following the existing
    debugger registration scheme.
(4) The JITRegistrar class has been removed, and the GDBRegistrar class has been
    re-written as a JITEventListener.

This should fix http://llvm.org/PR20722 .

daf061cf05 [MCJIT] Refactor and add stub inspection to the RuntimeDyldChecker framework.
This patch introduces a 'stub_addr' builtin that can be used to find the address
of the stub for a given (<file>, <section>, <symbol>) tuple. This address can be
used both to verify the contents of stubs (by loading from the returned address)
and to verify references to stubs (by comparing against the returned address).

Example (1) - Verifying stub contents:

Load 8 bytes (assuming a 64-bit target) from the stub for 'x' in the __text
section of f.o, and compare that value against the addres of 'x'.

# rtdyld-check: *{8}(stub_addr(f.o, __text, x) = x

Example (2) - Verifying references to stubs:

Decode the immediate of the instruction at label 'l', and verify that it's
equal to the offset from the next instruction's PC to the stub for 'y' in the
__text section of f.o (i.e. it's the correct PC-rel difference).

# rtdyld-check: decode_operand(l, 4) = stub_addr(f.o, __text, y) - next_pc(l)

Since stub inspection requires cooperation with RuntimeDyldImpl this patch
pimpl-ifies RuntimeDyldChecker. Its implementation is moved in to a new class,
RuntimeDyldCheckerImpl, that has access to the definition of RuntimeDyldImpl.

c3747f276a [RuntimeDyld] Add a framework for testing relocation logic in RuntimeDyld.
This patch adds a "-verify" mode to the llvm-rtdyld utility. In verify mode,
llvm-rtdyld will test supplied expressions against the linked program images
that it creates in memory. This scheme can be used to verify the correctness
of the relocation logic applied by RuntimeDyld.

The expressions to test will be read out of files passed via the -check option
(there may be more than one of these). Expressions to check are extracted from
lines of the form:
# rtdyld-check: <expression>

This system is designed to fit the llvm-lit regression test workflow. It is
format and target agnostic, and supports verification of images linked for
remote targets. The expression language is defined in
llvm/include/llvm/RuntimeDyldChecker.h . Examples can be found in
test/ExecutionEngine/RuntimeDyld.

00121bb932 PR19553: Memory leak in RuntimeDyldELF::createObjectImageFromFile
This starts in MCJIT::getSymbolAddress where the
unique_ptr<object::Binary> is release()d and (after a cast) passed to a
single caller, MCJIT::addObjectFile.

addObjectFile calls RuntimeDyld::loadObject.
RuntimeDld::loadObject calls RuntimeDyldELF::createObjectFromFile

And the pointer is never owned at this point. I say this point, because
the alternative codepath, RuntimeDyldMachO::createObjectFile certainly
does take ownership, so this seemed like a good hint that this was a/the
right place to take ownership.

20425d92df Add an option to MCJIT to have it forward all sections to the
RTDyldMemoryManager, regardless of whether it thinks they're "required for
execution".

Currently, RuntimeDyld only passes sections that are "required for execution"
to the RTDyldMemoryManager, and takes "required for execution" to mean exactly
"contains symbols or relocations". There are two problems with this:
(1) It can drop sections with anonymous data that is referenced by code.
(2) It leaves the JIT client no way to inspect interesting sections that aren't
    actually required to run the program (e.g dwarf sections).

A test case is still in the works.

Future work: We may want to replace this with a generic section filtering
mechanism, but that will require more consideration. For now, this flag at least
allows clients to volunteer to do the filtering themselves.

42fdb1f00f Re-apply r196639: Add support for archives and object file caching under MCJIT.
I believe the bot failures on linux systems were due to overestimating the
alignment of object-files within archives, which are only guaranteed to be
two-byte aligned. I have reduced the alignment in
RuntimeDyldELF::createObjectImageFromFile accordingly.

allocation out of SectionMemoryManager and into RTDyldMemoryManager.

This is in preparation for exposing RTDyldMemoryManager through the C 
API.

This is a fixed version of r182407 and r182411. That first revision 
broke builds because I forgot to move the conditional includes of 
various POSIX headers from SectionMemoryManager into 
RTDyldMemoryManager. Those includes are necessary because of how 
getPointerToNamedFunction works around the glibc libc_nonshared.a thing. 
The latter revision still broke things because I forgot to include 
llvm/Config/config.h.

a2e40fbd62 Add EH support to the MCJIT.
This gets exception handling working on ELF and Macho (x86-64 at least).
Other than the EH frame registration, this patch also implements support
for GOT relocations which are used to locate the personality function on
MachO.

35ed842773 MCJIT: getPointerToFunction() references target address space.
Make sure to return a pointer into the target memory, not the local memory.
Often they are the same, but we can't assume that.

0e4fa5ff36 Re-factored RuntimeDyLd:
1. The main works will made in the RuntimeDyLdImpl with uses the ObjectFile class. RuntimeDyLdMachO and RuntimeDyLdELF now only parses relocations and resolve it. This is allows to make improvements of the RuntimeDyLd more easily. In addition the support for COFF can be easily added.

2. Added ARM relocations to RuntimeDyLdELF.

3. Added support for stub functions for the ARM, allowing to do a long branch.

4. Added support for external functions that are not loaded from the object files, but can be loaded from external libraries. Now MCJIT can correctly execute the code containing the printf, putc, and etc.

5. The sections emitted instead functions, thanks Jim Grosbach. MemoryManager.startFunctionBody() and MemoryManager.endFunctionBody() have been removed.
6. MCJITMemoryManager.allocateDataSection() and MCJITMemoryManager. allocateCodeSection() used JMM->allocateSpace() instead of JMM->allocateCodeSection() and JMM->allocateDataSection(), because I got an error: "Cannot allocate an allocated block!" with object file contains more than one code or data sections.
