* Upgrade the pinned Rust toolchain to 1.96.1

rustup picks the version up from rust-toolchain.toml, locally and in CI.
The 1.96 clippy collapsible_match lint fires on the TextInput handlers;
fold the length check into the match guard as it suggests.
