Stefan ArentzandClaude Opus 4.8 3093ab224f Plan: real AppleMouse hardware (6821 PIA) for the //e firmware path
MousePaint hangs on the //e: it runs the //e's internal mouse firmware
(INTCXROM=1), which drives the card as its real 6821 PIA ($C0n0-$C0n3), not
the synthetic card's $Cn00 entry points. Diagnosed by booting the real disk
headlessly (reaches the menu, RETURN ignored, the device touched twice). The
synthetic firmware (plans/20260721-01) only covered the card's own entry
points — the gap the "no committed MousePaint image" kickoff decision left.

- notes/MOUSE.md: a "Known limitation" section recording the diagnosis and
  pointing at the new plan.
- plans/20260721-03-mouse-pia-hardware.md: a six-phase plan to model the card
as its real hardware — a 6821 PIA (reusing ewm/src/pia.rs, the Apple 1's)
with the mouse mechanism (quadrature X/Y, button, IRQ lines) wired to its
ports, so the //e internal firmware drives it. P1 reverse-engineers the
wiring (the linchpin); P5 rewrites mouse_rom to drive the PIA for the ][+.
Three kickoff decisions (][+ path, flagship gate, PR granularity).
