Use lambdas for dispatcher, code cleanup, test updates (#958)
* Using lambdas instead of member function pointers simplifies the command dispatching and reduces the code volume

* Removed duplicate error handling

* Fix for issue #956

* Unit test updates

* Resolved SonarQube issues
