81244298ea Properly quote the quotes :) during cmdline construction on Windows. 
Otherwise, e.g. in the invocation like clang -DFOO=\"bar\" FOO macro
got the bar value, not "bar".

b7ccf75de5 Fix a false-positive memory leak in code using RemoveFileOnSignal(). Because 
libstdc++'s std::string class points to the interior of an allocation, valgrind
reports strings still alive at program termination as possible leaks.  I didn't
use a ManagedStatic for this because System can't depend on Support.

f28411f732 Tell Valgrind when we modify already-executed machine code so it knows 
to re-instrument the code.  We depend on the system valgrind.h to
avoid adding a new license.

6220754525 Make clang bootstrap happier on OSX 10.5 by reducing the number of headers 
included when using global symbols to ask the linker for the addresses of
various functions.  One of the symbols was actually getting declared by a
header included in DynamicLibrary.cpp, which conflicted with the "extern void*"
declaration in SearchForAddressOfSpecialSymbol().

b0a5baefaa Fix TimeValue::now() on Unix. 
TimeValue()::now().toEpochTime() is supposed to be the same as time(),
but it wasn't, because toEpoch subtracted PosixZeroTime, but now()
didn't add PosixZeroTime!
Add a unittest to check this works.

0f706ab789 Move the extern symbol declarations outside of 
DynamicLibrary::SearchForAddressOfSymbol and force them to have "C"
linkage. 

Interestingly, GCC treats the block-scoped "extern" declarations we
previously had as if they were extern "C" declarations (or, at least,
were in the global namespace), so that GCC bug papered over this LLVM
bug. Clang and EDG get the linkage correct; this new variant seems to
work for both GCC and Clang.

546d8d0e3e Add "generic" fallback.

c4174d675b Using _MSC_VER there was wrong, better just use the already existing ifdefs for 
x86 CPU detection for the X86 getHostCPUName too, and create a simple
getHostCPUName that returns "generic" for all else.

da8bafbf83 Enable CPU detection when using MS VS 2k8 too. 
MSVS2k8 doesn't define __i386__, hence all the CPU detection code was disabled.
Enable it by looking for _MSC_VER.

bcc2e45840 Fixes the Atomic implementation if compiled by MSVC compiler. 
sys::cas_flag should be long on this platform, InterlockedAdd() is
defined only for the Itanium architecture (according to MSDN).

d614673bb8 This patch ensures that Path::GetMainExecutable is able to handle the 
case where realpath() fails. When this occurs we segfault trying to
create a std::string from a NULL pointer.

Fixes PR5635.

110e7bb25c Revert CPU detection code to return "generic" instead of an empty string in case 
of failure. The x86 target didn't like empty cpu names and broke x86 tests on
non-x86 buildbots.

067d024b05 Add llvm::sys::getHostCPUName, for detecting the LLVM name for the host CPU. 
- This is an initial step towards -march=native support in Clang, and towards
   eliminating host dependencies in the targets. See PR5389.

8201ebd40b Use 'waitpid' instead of 'wait'. Basing Program::Wait() on 'wait()' prevents it being correct within a multithreaded context. 
This address: PR 5277 (Program::Wait is unsafe to call from multiple threads).

Note: If waitpid() turns out to be non-portable, we can add more autoconf magic, or look into
another solution.

7d26948662 MingW build fixes 
- MingW needs -lpsapi (in ${LIBS}) linked after -lLLVMSystem.
  Noticed by Ronald Pijnacker!

- Some parts of the System library must be build with exceptions on windows.

df3388492b Add a magic LLVM_DISABLE_CRT_DEBUG environment variable which we check in RegisterHandler and use to disable the Win32 crash dialogs. These are a major blocker to any kind of automated testing. 
Also, tweak the 'lit' test runner to set this variable unconditionally.

6db0e3a981 Get rid of GetProcessId in Win32/Program.inc. 
GetProcessId was introduced only in XP. As a bonus, this change makes Program
objects copyable, since Program is now basically a PID.

ec080467f5 Fix llvm-extract's "writing bitcode to a terminal" warning, which wasn't 
working. To support this, add an is_displayed() function to raw_ostream,
and generalize Process::StandardOutIsDisplayed and friends in order to
support it.

Also, call RemoveFileOnSignal before creating a file instead of after, so
that the file isn't left behind if the program is interrupted between when
the file is created and RemoveFileOnSignal is called.

While here, add a -S to llvm-extract and port it to IRReader so that it
supports assembly input.

74382b7c69 Prune #includes from llvm/Linker.h and llvm/System/Path.h, 
forcing them down into various .cpp files.

This change also:
1. Renames TimeValue::toString() and Path::toString() to ::str()
   for similarity with the STL.
2. Removes all stream insertion support for sys::Path, forcing
   clients to call .str().
3. Removes a use of Config/alloca.h from bugpoint, using smallvector
   instead.
4. Weans llvm-db off <iostream>

sys::Path really needs to be gutted, but I don't have the desire to
do it at this point.

6db0a8b4fd When exec() fails, return 127 instead of errno; the parent process has no way to 
distinguish that the result is errno, so it can't use it to provide more
information about the error (it also exposes the numeric value of errno).

a87861e4f8 On "Unix", if Program::FindProgramByName is given a name containing 
slashes, just go with it, regardless of whether it looks like it will
be executable. This follows the behavior of sh(1) more closely.

81ce3ed08c Make the JIT code emitter properly retry and ask for more memory when it runs 
out of memory, and also make the default memory manager allocate more memory
when it runs out.

Also, switch function stubs and global data over to using the BumpPtrAllocator.

This makes it so the JIT no longer mmaps (or the equivalent on Windows) 16 MB
of memory, and instead allocates in 512K slabs.  I suspect this size could go
lower, especially on embedded platforms, now that more slabs can be allocated.

a9b7d60d67 Eliminate the static constructors and locks from DynamicLibrary.cpp. 
This fixes PR4512 and eliminating static ctors is always good.  Losing
thread safety is unfortunate, but the code is just incredibly poorly
designed.

If someone is interested, the "right" solution is to split
DynamicLibrary.cpp into two separate pieces: a stateless piece in
libsystem, and a simple support file in libsupport that has the
"state" (e.g.  AddSymbol) in managed static objects.

Doing this would both fix memory leaks we already have, as well as make
the code thread safe again.  it would also make sense to move all the
unix specific code in System/DynamicLibrary.cpp into 
System/Unix/DynamicLibrary.inc.

b849a4dd4b Insert a SmartMutex templated class into the class hierarchy, which takes a template parameter specifying whether this mutex 
should become a no-op when not running in multithreaded mode.  Make sys::Mutex a typedef of SmartMutex<false>, to preserve source compatibility.

c9f8e8ebab Improve the Win32 reader-writer lock implementation by making it just a normal

070c42f311 glibc has two versions of strerror_r, a standards compliant one and a GNU 
specific one. The GNU one is chosen when _GNU_SOURCE is defined. g++ always
defines _GNU_SOURCE on linux platforms because glibc's headers won't compile
in C++ mode without it. The GNU strerror_r doesn't always modify the buffer
which causes empty error messages on linux.

This patch changes MakeErrMsg to use the return value of strerror_r to get
the string instead of assuming the buffer will be modified, on GLIBC.
