2451e5b581 PR21145: Teach LLVM about C++14 sized deallocation functions.
C++14 adds new builtin signatures for 'operator delete'. This change allows
new/delete pairs to be removed in C++14 onwards, as they were in C++11 and
before.

83902832de Revert "Revert "DI: Fold constant arguments into a single MDString""
This reverts commit r218918, effectively reapplying r218914 after fixing
an Ocaml bindings test and an Asan crash.  The root cause of the latter
was a tightened-up check in `DILexicalBlock::Verify()`, so I'll file a
PR to investigate who requires the loose check (and why).

This patch addresses the first stage of PR17891 by folding constant
arguments together into a single MDString.  Integers are stringified and
a `\0` character is used as a separator.

Part of PR17891.

Note: I've attached my testcases upgrade scripts to the PR.  If I've
just broken your out-of-tree testcases, they might help.

726942c8bb [ISel] Keep matching state consistent when folding during X86 address match
In the X86 backend, matching an address is initiated by the 'addr' complex
pattern and its friends.  During this process we may reassociate and-of-shift
into shift-of-and (FoldMaskedShiftToScaledMask) to allow folding of the
shift into the scale of the address.

However as demonstrated by the testcase, this can trigger CSE of not only the
shift and the AND which the code is prepared for but also the underlying load
node.  In the testcase this node is sitting in the RecordedNode and MatchScope
data structures of the matcher and becomes a deleted node upon CSE.  Returning
from the complex pattern function, we try to access it again hitting an assert
because the node is no longer a load even though this was checked before.

Now obviously changing the DAG this late is bending the rules but I think it
makes sense somewhat.  Outside of addresses we prefer and-of-shift because it
may lead to smaller immediates (FoldMaskAndShiftToScale is an even better
example because it create a non-canonical node).  We currently don't recognize
addresses during DAGCombiner where arguably this canonicalization should be
performed.  On the other hand, having this in the matcher allows us to cover
all the cases where an address can be used in an instruction.

I've also talked a little bit to Dan Gohman on llvm-dev who added the RAUW for
the new shift node in FoldMaskedShiftToScaledMask.  This RAUW is responsible
for initiating the recursive CSE on users
(http://lists.cs.uiuc.edu/pipermail/llvmdev/2014-September/076903.html) but it
is not strictly necessary since the shift is hooked into the visited user.  Of
course it's safer to keep the DAG consistent at all times (e.g. for accurate
number of uses, etc.).

So rather than changing the fundamentals, I've decided to continue along the
previous patches and detect the CSE.  This patch installs a very targeted
DAGUpdateListener for the duration of a complex-pattern match and updates the
matching state accordingly.  (Previous patches used HandleSDNode to detect the
CSE but that's not practical here).  The listener is only installed on X86.

I tested that there is no measurable overhead due to this while running
through the spec2k BC files with llc.  The only thing we pay for is the
creation of the listener.  The callback never ever triggers in spec2k since
this is a corner case.

61bc405795 [mips] Print warning when using register names not available in N32/64
Summary:
The register names t4-t7 are not available in the N32 and N64 ABIs.
This patch prints a warning, when those names are used in N32/64,
along with a fix-it with the correct register names.

b157cb7afd Revert 202433 - Provide a target override for the latest regalloc heuristic
That commit was introduced in order to help investigate a problem in ARM
codegen breaking from commit 202304 (Add a limit to the heuristic that register
allocates instructions in local order). Recent analisys indicated that the
problem no longer exists, so I'm reverting this change.

See PR18996.

d76512681e InstrProf: Avoid linear search in a hot loop
Every time we were adding or removing an expression when generating a
coverage mapping we were doing a linear search to try and deduplicate
the list. The indices in the list are important, so we can't just
replace it by a DenseMap entirely, but an auxilliary DenseMap for fast
lookup massively improves the performance issues I was seeing here.

f3cd10bdc3 This patch adds a new flag "-coff-imports" to llvm-readobj.
When the flag is given, the command prints out the COFF import table.

Currently only the import table directory will be printed.
I'm going to make another patch to print out the imported symbols.

The implementation of import directory entry iterator in
COFFObjectFile.cpp was buggy. This patch fixes that too.

1476756523 InstrProf: Don't keep a large sparse list around just to zero it
The Terms vector here represented a polynomial of of all possible
counters, and is used to simplify expressions when generating coverage
mapping. There are a few problems with this:

1. Keeping the vector as a member is wasteful, since we clear it every
   time we use it.
2. Most expressions refer to a subset of the counters, so we end up
   iterating over a large number of zeros doing nothing a lot of the
   time.

This updates the user of the vector to store the terms locally, and
uses a sort and combine approach so that we only operate on counters
that are actually used in a given expression. For small cases this
makes very little difference, but in cases with a very large number of
counted regions this is a significant performance fix.

48d779f48d [PBQP] Add support for graph-level metadata to the PBQP graph. This will be used
in the future to attach useful information about the PBQP graph (e.g. the
associated MachineFunction, pointers to regalloc passes) to the graph itself,
making that information accessible to the solver. This should also allow the
PBQPBuilder interface to be simplified.

c729bae7b3 DIBuilder: Remove dead code
I neglected to update `DIBuilder::createPieceExpression()` in r218797,
which I noticed while rebasing a patch for PR17891.  On closer
inspection, it looks like dead code.

If there are any downstream users of this, you should transition to the
more general `createExpression()`.  Or, we can add this back, but then
it should just forward to `createExpression()`.

d045b8439a DIBuilder: Encapsulate DIExpression's element type
`DIExpression`'s elements are 64-bit integers that are stored as
`ConstantInt`.  The accessors already encapsulate the storage.  This
commit updates the `DIBuilder` API to also encapsulate that.

02474a32eb Move the complex address expression out of DIVariable and into an extra
argument of the llvm.dbg.declare/llvm.dbg.value intrinsics.

Previously, DIVariable was a variable-length field that has an optional
reference to a Metadata array consisting of a variable number of
complex address expressions. In the case of OpPiece expressions this is
wasting a lot of storage in IR, because when an aggregate type is, e.g.,
SROA'd into all of its n individual members, the IR will contain n copies
of the DIVariable, all alike, only differing in the complex address
reference at the end.

By making the complex address into an extra argument of the
dbg.value/dbg.declare intrinsics, all of the pieces can reference the
same variable and the complex address expressions can be uniqued across
the CU, too.
Down the road, this will allow us to move other flags, such as
"indirection" out of the DIVariable, too.

The new intrinsics look like this:

declare void @llvm.dbg.value(metadata %storage, i64 %offset, metadata %var, metadata %expr)

This patch adds a new LLVM-local tag to DIExpressions, so we can detect

This patch does not touch the "Indirect" field in DIVariable; but moving
that into the expression would be a natural next step.

04d2186546 LTO: Ignore disabled diagnostic remarks
r206400 and r209442 added remarks that are disabled by default.
However, if a diagnostic handler is registered, the remarks are sent
unfiltered to the handler.  This is the right behaviour for clang, since
it has its own filters.

However, the diagnostic handler exposed in the LTO API receives only the
severity and message.  It doesn't have the information to filter by pass
name.  For LTO, disabled remarks should be filtered by the producer.

I've changed `LLVMContext::setDiagnosticHandler()` to take a `bool`
argument indicating whether to respect the built-in filters.  This
defaults to `false`, so other consumers don't have a behaviour change,
but `LTOCodeGenerator::setDiagnosticHandler()` sets it to `true`.

To make this behaviour testable, I added a `-use-diagnostic-handler`
command-line option to `llvm-lto`.

This fixes PR21108.

e2ef4419a8 [MCJIT] Turn the getSymbolAddress free function created in r218626 into a static
member of RTDyldMemoryManager (and rename to getSymbolAddressInProcess).

The functionality this provides is very specific to RTDyldMemoryManager, so it
makes sense to keep it in that class to avoid accidental re-use.

No functional change.

771ac70aed Add an emplace(...) method to llvm::Optional<T>.
This can be used for in-place initialization of non-moveable types.
For compilers that don't support variadic templates, only up to four
arguments are supported. We can always add more, of course, but this
should be good enough until we move to a later MSVC that has full
support for variadic templates.

Inspired by std::experimental::optional from the "Library Fundamentals" C++ TS.

9cd9e4bb2c [SimplifyCFG] threshold for folding branches with common destination
Summary:
This patch adds a threshold that controls the number of bonus instructions
allowed for folding branches with common destination. The original code allows
at most one bonus instruction. With this patch, users can customize the
threshold to allow multiple bonus instructions. The default threshold is still
1, so that the code behaves the same as before when users do not specify this
threshold.

The motivation of this change is that tuning this threshold significantly (up
to 25%) improves the performance of some CUDA programs in our internal code
base. In general, branch instructions are very expensive for GPU programs.
Therefore, it is sometimes worth trading more arithmetic computation for a more
straightened control flow. Here's a reduced example:

    int sum = 0;
    for (int i = 0; i < n; ++i)
      sum += (((i ^ a) > b) && (((i | c ) ^ d) > e)) ? 0 : input[i];
    *output = sum;
  }

The select statement in the loop body translates to two branch instructions "if
((i ^ a) > b)" and "if (((i | c) ^ d) > e)" which share a common destination.
With the default threshold, SimplifyCFG is unable to fold them, because
computing the condition of the second branch "(i | c) ^ d > e" requires two
bonus instructions. With the threshold increased, SimplifyCFG can fold the two
branches so that the loop body contains only one branch, making the code
conceptually look like:

  sum += (((i ^ a) > b) & (((i | c ) ^ d) > e)) ? 0 : input[i];

Increasing the threshold significantly improves the performance of this
particular example. In the configuration where both conditions are guaranteed
to be true, increasing the threshold from 1 to 2 improves the performance by
18.24%. Even in the configuration where the first condition is false and the
second condition is true, which favors shortcuts, increasing the threshold from
1 to 2 still improves the performance by 4.35%.

We are still looking for a good threshold and maybe a better cost model than
just counting the number of bonus instructions. However, according to the above
numbers, we think it is at least worth adding a threshold to enable more
experiments and tuning. Let me know what you think. Thanks!

cafc85bf1e Split the estimate() interface into separate functions for each type. NFC.
It was hacky to use an opcode as a switch because it won't always match
(rsqrte != sqrte), and it looks like we'll need to add more special casing
per arch than I had hoped for. Eg, x86 will prefer a different NR estimate
implementation. ARM will want to use it's 'step' instructions. There also
don't appear to be any new estimate instructions in any arch in a long,
long time. Altivec vloge and vexpte may have been the first and last in
that field...

03b4667e14 Unit test r218187, changing RTDyldMemoryManager::getSymbolAddress's behavior favor mangled lookup over unmangled lookup.
The contract of this function seems problematic (fallback in either
direction seems like it could produce bugs in one client or another),
but here's some tests for its current behavior, at least. See the
commit/review thread of r218187 for more discussion.

88c0ed30da Add getValueOr to llvm::Optional<T>.
This takes a single argument convertible to T, and
- if the Optional has a value, returns the existing value,
- otherwise, constructs a T from the argument and returns that.

af34c3a995 Fix llvm::huge_valf multiple initializations with Visual C++.
llvm::huge_valf is defined in a header file, so it is initialized
multiple times in every compiled unit upon program startup.

With non-VC compilers huge_valf is set to a HUGE_VALF which the
compiler can probably optimize out.

With VC numeric_limits<float>::infinity() does not return a number
but a runtime structure member which therotically may change 
between calls so the compiler does not optimize out the 
initialization and it happens many times. It can be easily seen by 
placing a breakpoint on the initialization line.

This patch moves llvm::huge_valf initialization to a source file
instead of the header.

676af35b38 Refactor reciprocal and reciprocal square root estimate into target-independent functions (part 2).
This is purely refactoring. No functional changes intended. PowerPC is the only target
that is currently using this interface.

The ultimate goal is to allow targets other than PowerPC (certainly X86 and Aarch64) to turn this:

z = y / sqrt(x)

into:

z = y * rsqrte(x)

And:

z = y / x

into:

z = y * rcpe(x)

using whatever HW magic they can use. See http://llvm.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=20900 .

There is one hook in TargetLowering to get the target-specific opcode for an estimate instruction
along with the number of refinement steps needed to make the estimate usable.

e93da60ac4 [Support] Add type-safe alternative to llvm::format()
llvm::format() is somewhat unsafe. The compiler does not check that integer
parameter size matches the %x or %d size and it does not complain when a 
StringRef is passed for a %s.  And correctly using a StringRef with format() is  
ugly because you have to convert it to a std::string then call c_str().
 
The cases where llvm::format() is useful is controlling how numbers and
strings are printed, especially when you want fixed width output.  This
patch adds some new formatting functions to raw_streams to format numbers
and StringRefs in a type safe manner. Some examples:

   OS << format_hex(255, 6)        => "0x00ff"
   OS << format_hex(255, 4)        => "0xff"
   OS << format_decimal(0, 5)      => "    0"
   OS << format_decimal(255, 5)    => "  255"
   OS << right_justify(Str, 5)     => "  foo"
   OS << left_justify(Str, 5)      => "foo  "

79826e015e Lower idempotent RMWs to fence+load
Summary:
I originally tried doing this specifically for X86 in the backend in D5091,
but it was rather brittle and generally running too late to be general.
Furthermore, other targets may want to implement similar optimizations.
So I reimplemented it at the IR-level, fitting it into AtomicExpandPass
as it interacts with that pass (which could not be cleanly done before
at the backend level).

This optimization relies on a new target hook, which is only used by X86
for now, as the correctness of the optimization on other targets remains
an open question. If it is found correct on other targets, it should be
trivial to enable for them.

Details of the optimization are discussed in D5091.

Test Plan: make check-all + a new test

03fe69e90d [mips] Add CCValAssign::[ASZ]ExtUpper and CCPromoteToUpperBitsInType and handle struct's correctly on big-endian N32/N64 return values.
Summary:
The N32/N64 ABI's require that structs passed in registers are laid out
such that spilling the register with 'sd' places the struct at the lowest
address. For little endian this is trivial but for big-endian it requires
that structs are shifted into the upper bits of the register.

We also require that structs passed in registers have the 'inreg'
attribute for big-endian N32/N64 to work correctly. This is because the
tablegen-erated calling convention implementation only has access to the
lowered form of struct arguments (one or more integers of up to 64-bits
each) and is unable to determine the original type.

aacc919bfd llvm-cov: Combine segments that cover the same location
If we have multiple coverage counts for the same segment, we need to
add them up rather than arbitrarily choosing one. This fixes that and
adds a test with template instantiations to exercise it.

with a switch statement on the detected target triple, removing the
need for testing arbitrary architecture names returned from
getFileFormatName, whose primary purpose seems to be for display
(user-interface) purposes. The visitor now takes a reference to the
object file, rather than its arbitrary file format name to figure out
whether the file is a 32 or 64-bit object file and what the detected
target triple is.

A set of tests have been added to help show that the refactoring processes
relocations for the same targets as the original code.

cfc42962c8 Fix assertion in LICM doFinalization()
The doFinalization method checks that the LoopToAliasSetMap is
empty. LICM populates that map as it runs through the loop nest,
deleting the entries for child loops as it goes. However, if a child
loop is deleted by another pass (e.g. unrolling) then the loop will
never be deleted from the map because LICM walks the loop nest to
find entries it can delete.

The fix is to delete the loop from the map and free the alias set
when the loop is deleted from the loop nest.

58bca6e8ec [Power] Use AtomicExpandPass for fence insertion, and use lwsync where appropriate
Summary:
This patch makes use of AtomicExpandPass in Power for inserting fences around
atomic as part of an effort to remove fence insertion from SelectionDAGBuilder.
As a big bonus, it lets us use sync 1 (lightweight sync, often used by the mnemonic
lwsync) instead of sync 0 (heavyweight sync) in many cases.

I also added a test, as there was no test for the barriers emitted by the Power
backend for atomic loads and stores.

fd4c3c983e Add AtomicExpandPass::bracketInstWithFences, and use it whenever getInsertFencesForAtomic would trigger in SelectionDAGBuilder
Summary:
The goal is to eventually remove all the code related to getInsertFencesForAtomic
in SelectionDAGBuilder as it is wrong (designed for ARM, not really portable, works
mostly by accident because the backends are overly conservative), and repeats the
same logic that goes in emitLeading/TrailingFence.

In this patch, I make AtomicExpandPass insert the fences as it knows better
where to put them. Because this requires getting the fences and not just
passing an IRBuilder around, I had to change the return type of
emitLeading/TrailingFence.
This code only triggers on ARM for now. Because it is earlier in the pipeline
than SelectionDAGBuilder, it triggers and lowers atomic accesses to atomic so
SelectionDAGBuilder does not add barriers anymore on ARM.

If this patch is accepted I plan to implement emitLeading/TrailingFence for all
backends that setInsertFencesForAtomic(true), which will allow both making them
less conservative and simplifying SelectionDAGBuilder once they are all using
this interface.

This should not cause any functionnal change so the existing tests are used
and not modified.

Test Plan: make check-all, benefits from existing tests of atomics on ARM

0717be951f [MCJIT] Delete the JTIMemoryManager and associated APIs.
This patch removes the old JIT memory manager (which does not provide any

e6f6980d5b ms-inline-asm: Fix parsing label names inside bracket expressions
Summary:
This fixes a couple of issues.  One is ensuring that AOK_Label rewrite
rules have a lower priority than AOK_Skip rules, as AOK_Skip needs to
be able to skip the brackets properly.  The other part of the fix ensures
that we don't overwrite Identifier when looking up the identifier, and
that we use the locally available information to generate the AOK_Label
rewrite in ParseIntelIdentifier.  Doing that in CreateMemForInlineAsm
would be problematic since the Start location there may point to the
beginning of a bracket expression, and not necessarily the beginning of
an identifier.

This also means that we don't need to carry around the InternlName field,
which helps simplify the code.

Test Plan: This will be tested on the clang side.

1e165a0d5e Update comment on AtomicRMWInst::Nand

    Logic in PPCTargetLowering::BuildRSQRTE() should be hoisted into DAGCombiner.
    X86 and AArch64 overrides for TargetLowering.BuildRSQRTE() should be added.

9eb38163a5 llvm-cov: Disentangle the coverage data logic from the display (NFC)
This splits the logic for actually looking up coverage information
from the logic that displays it. These were tangled rather thoroughly
so this change is a bit large, but it mostly consists of moving things
around. The coverage lookup logic itself now lives in the library,
rather than being spread between the library and the tool.

c404e8208c Optionally enable more-aggressive FMA formation in DAGCombine
The heuristic used by DAGCombine to form FMAs checks that the FMUL has only one
use, but this is overly-conservative on some systems. Specifically, if the FMA
and the FADD have the same latency (and the FMA does not compete for resources
with the FMUL any more than the FADD does), there is no need for the
restriction, and furthermore, forming the FMA leaving the FMUL can still allow
for higher overall throughput and decreased critical-path length.

Here we add a new TLI callback, enableAggressiveFMAFusion, false by default, to
elide the hasOneUse check. This is enabled for PowerPC by default, as most
PowerPC systems will benefit.

61519cd699 Optimize sext/zext insertion algorithm in back-end.
With this optimization, we will not always insert zext for values crossing
basic blocks, but insert sext if the users of a value crossing basic block
has preference of sign predicate.

394be6c159 LTO: introduce object file-based on-disk module format.
This format is simply a regular object file with the bitcode stored in a
section named ".llvmbc", plus any number of other (non-allocated) sections.

One immediate use case for this is to accommodate compilation processes
which expect the object file to contain metadata in non-allocated sections,
such as the ".go_export" section used by some Go compilers [1], although I
imagine that in the future we could consider compiling parts of the module
(such as large non-inlinable functions) directly into the object file to
improve LTO efficiency.

757c90dd00 Add a new pass FunctionTargetTransformInfo. This pass serves as a
shim between the TargetTransformInfo immutable pass and the Subtarget
via the TargetMachine and Function. Migrate a single call from
BasicTargetTransformInfo as an example and provide shims where TargetMachine
begins taking a Function to determine the subtarget.

No functional change.

52675f31e5 Reapply fix in r217988 (reverted in r217989) and remove the alternative fix committed in r217987.
This type isn't owned polymorphically (as demonstrated by making the
dtor protected and everything still compiling) so just address the
warning by protecting the base dtor and making the derived class final.

5c16c4e45a [X86] Use the generic AtomicExpandPass instead of X86AtomicExpandPass
This required a new hook called hasLoadLinkedStoreConditional to know whether
to expand atomics to LL/SC (ARM, AArch64, in a future patch Power) or to
CmpXchg (X86).

Apart from that, the new code in AtomicExpandPass is mostly moved from
X86AtomicExpandPass. The main result of this patch is to get rid of that
pass, which had lots of code duplicated with AtomicExpandPass.
