19b7e0e0ca For PR786: 
Minor tweaks in public headers and a few .cpp files so that LLVM can build
successfully with -pedantic and projects using LLVM with -pedantic don't
get warnings from LLVM. There's still more -pedantic warnings to fix.

6f3ada51aa LoadLibraryPermanently can theoretically throw an exception. Do not propagate 
it out of 'ExecutionEngine::create'.  This fixes a problem reported by coverity.

07000c6f01 Refactor a bunch of includes so that TargetMachine.h doesn't have to include 
TargetData.h.  This should make recompiles a bit faster with my current
TargetData tinkering.

b4432f3d47 Suck block address tracking out of targets into the JIT Emitter. This 
simplifies the MachineCodeEmitter interface just a little bit and makes
BasicBlocks work like constant pools and jump tables.

a69571c799 Refactor TargetMachine, pushing handling of TargetData into the target-specific subclasses. This has one caller-visible change: getTargetData() now returns a pointer instead of a reference. 
This fixes PR 759.

f75f9be3fb Several related changes: 
1. Change several methods in the MachineCodeEmitter class to be pure virtual.
2. Suck emitConstantPool/initJumpTableInfo into startFunction, removing them
   from the MachineCodeEmitter interface, and reducing the amount of target-
   specific code.
3. Change the JITEmitter so that it allocates constantpools and jump tables
   *right* next to the functions that they belong to, instead of in a separate
   pool of memory.  This makes all memory for a function be contiguous, and
   means the JITEmitter only tracks one block of memory now.

43b429b059 Refactor the machine code emitter interface to pull the pointers for the current 
code emission location into the base class, instead of being in the derived classes.

This change means that low-level methods like emitByte/emitWord now are no longer
virtual (yaay for speed), and we now have a framework to support growable code
segments.  This implements feature request #1 of PR469.

37efe67645 JumpTable support! What this represents is working asm and jit support for 
x86 and ppc for 100% dense switch statements when relocations are non-PIC.
This support will be extended and enhanced in the coming days to support
PIC, and less dense forms of jump tables.

8c9191c644 The interpreter assumes that the caller of runFunction() must be lli, and 
therefore the function being called must be a main() returning an int.  The
consequences when these assumptions are false are not good, so don't assume
them.

68835dd511 Teach the interpreter to handle global variables that are added to a module after 
interpretation has begun.  The JIT already handles this situation correctly, and
the interpreter can already handle new functions being added.

3db4b62c2f Fix a nasty bug that was causing miscompilation of global variables 
on big endian 32-bit targets in some cases (e.g. PPC).  This fixes several
PPC JIT failures.

6a9746127a Like constants, globals on some platforms are GOT relative. This means they have to be allocated 
near the GOT, which new doesn't do.  So break out the allocate into a new function.

Also move GOT index handling into JITResolver.  This lets it update the mapping when a Lazy
function is JITed.  It doesn't managed the table, just the mapping.  Note that this is
still non-ideal, as any function that takes a function address should also take a GOT
index, but that is a lot of changes.  The relocation resolve process updates any GOT entry
it sees is out of date.

ee448630bd For PR540: 
This patch completes the changes for making lli thread-safe. Here's the list
of changes:
* The Support/ThreadSupport* files were removed and replaced with the
  MutexGuard.h file since all ThreadSupport* declared was a Mutex Guard.
  The implementation of MutexGuard.h is now based on sys::Mutex which hides
  its implementation and makes it unnecessary to have the -NoSupport.h and
  -PThreads.h versions of ThreadSupport.

* All places in ExecutionEngine that previously referred to "Mutex" now
  refer to sys::Mutex

* All places in ExecutionEngine that previously referred to "MutexLocker"
  now refer to MutexGuard (this is frivolous but I believe the technically
  correct name for such a class is "Guard" not a "Locker").

These changes passed all of llvm-test. All we need now are some test cases
that actually use multiple threads.

4e7dd8f7c4 If the interpreter tries to execute an external function, kill it. Of course 
since we are dirty, special case __main.  This should fix the infinite loop
horrible stuff that happens on linux-alpha when configuring llvm-gcc.  It
might also help cygwin, who knows??

281a601198 Rework constant pool handling so that function constant pools are no longer 
leaked to the system.  Now they are destroyed with the JITMemoryManager is
destroyed.

02376e3f29 Now that we have ghost linkage, we can force resolution of external symbols 
immediately instead of lazily.

In this program, for example:

int main() {
  printf("hello world\n");
  printf("hello world\n");
  printf("hello world\n");
  printf("hello world\n");
}

We used to have to go through compilation callback 4 times (once for each
call to printf), now we don't go to it at all.

Thanks to Misha for noticing this, and for adding the initial ghost linkage
patches.

b440dea57b Go back to the interpreter main loop after performing intrinsic lowering, 
because 1) the first instruction might not be a call site, and
2) CS and SF.Caller were not getting set to point to the new call site
anyway (resulting in a crash on e.g. call %llvm.memset).

d0f3c5e8b1 My fix for PR274 broke the build on Darwin/PPC. As I'm fairly certain this 
bug only affects Linux systems that use GLIBC, I'm going to put ifdefs around
the array.

9d20b71eca Represent va_list in interpreter as a (ec-stack-depth . var-arg-index) 
pair, and look up varargs in the execution stack every time, instead of
just pushing iterators (which can be invalidated during callFunction())
around.  (union GenericValue now has a "pair of uints" member, to support
this mechanism.) Fixes Bug 234.

55d86482bd Add new ExecutionEngine::getGlobalValueAtAddress method, which can efficiently 
turn a memory address back into the LLVM global object that starts at that
address.  Note that this won't cause any additional datastructures to be built
for clients of the EE that don't need this information.

Also modified some code to not access the GlobalAddress map directly.

4d326fa9be Cleanup the JIT as per PR176. This renames the VM class to JIT, and merges the 
VM.cpp and JIT.cpp files into JIT.cpp.  This also splits some nasty code out
into TargetSelect.cpp so that people hopefully won't notice it.  :)

63438cc9b0 Add support for --debug-only=interpreter, to print out instrs before 
interpreting them.

Move support for getting the value of a ConstantExpr into
getConstantExprValue(), and add support for the rest of the different
kinds of ConstantExprs.  (I don't think I like ConstantExprs!)
This requires separate procedures executeShlInst() and executeShrInst().

Reduce the number of references to TheEE.

Get rid of an old comment mentioning annotations.

Fix exitCalled(), which was crashing the Interpreter. This was a
leftover from the return-value code refactoring.

91de352796 Go back to allocating memory for each constant separately. Since SPARCs do not 
allow unaligned loads, that is probably the problem I've been seeing in numerous
SPARC test cases failing. X86, on the other hand, just slows down unaligned
accesses, since it must make 2 aligned accesses for each unaligned one.

8da17489aa Change LLI's internal representation of va_list to a pointer to the next 
argument to be returned by va_arg. This allows va_lists to be passed
between different LLVM procedures (though it is unlikely that an LLI
va_list would make sense to an external function, except by chance.)

242978cdee Destroy MachineFunction for any Function that we are about to 
recompile and relink. This keeps it from failing an assertion when
it goes and tries to construct a new MachineFunction for that Function.

cd64ddfafe Refactor running the JIT passes on a single function into the new method, 
runJITOnFunction().

Add new method for recompiling and patching in new versions of functions,
recompileAndRelinkFunction().

364f86d4df Make mmap's fd for anonymous memory acquisition default to -1, except on 
Linux. This is consistent with what FreeBSD and Solaris both want.
This makes the JIT work on FreeBSD 5.1-RELEASE. Whee.

 Change to use "F" for Function argument instead of ancient "M".
