07f95b3218 [CMake] Use target_link_libraries(INTERFACE|PRIVATE) on CMake-2.8.12 to increase opportunity for parallel build.
target_link_libraries(INTERFACE) doesn't bring inter-target dependencies in add_library,
although final targets have dependencies to whole dependent libraries.
It makes most libraries can be built in parallel.

target_link_libraries(PRIVATE) is used to shaared library.
Each dependent library is linked to the target.so, and its user will not see its grandchildren.
For example,

  - libclang.so has sufficient libclang*.a(s).
  - c-index-test requires just only libclang.so.

FIXME: lld is tweaked minimally. Adding INTERFACE in each library would be better thing.

ac69459e0f Replace the F_Binary flag with a F_Text one.
After this I will set the default back to F_None. The advantage is that
before this patch forgetting to set F_Binary would corrupt a file on windows.
Forgetting to set F_Text produces one that cannot be read in notepad, which
is a better failure mode :-)

589d637725 Simplify remove, create_directory and create_directories.
Before this patch they would take an boolean argument to say if the path
already existed. This was redundant with the returned error_code which is able
to represent that. This allowed for callers to incorrectly check only the
existed flag instead of first checking the error code.

Instead, pass in a boolean flag to say if the previous (non-)existence should be
an error or not.

Callers of the of the old simple versions are not affected. They still ignore
the previous (non-)existence as they did before.

043cc54d6c Simplify linking to system libraries
The LLVMSupport library implementation consolidates all dependencies on
system libraries. Move the logic gathering system libraries out of
'cmake/modules/LLVM-Config.cmake' and into 'lib/Support/CMakeLists.txt'.
Use the target_link_libraries() command there to tell CMake about the
link dependencies of the LLVMSupport implementation. CMake will
automatically propagate this to all targets that link LLVMSupport
directly or indirectly.

We still need to build knowledge of system library dependencies into
'llvm-config'. Store the list of libraries needed in a property on
LLVMSupport and teach 'tools/llvm-config/CMakeLists.txt' to retrieve it
from there.

Drop all calls to 'link_system_libs' and 'get_system_libs' from our
CMake code. Replace their implementations with a warning that explains
the calls are no longer necessary. Also drop from 'LLVMConfig.cmake'
the HAVE_* and related variables that were published there only to allow
'get_system_libs' to run outside our build process.

Contributed by Brad King.

e08aac49ea Use mkdir instead of stat+mkdir.
This is an optimistic version of create_diretories: it tries to create the
directory first and looks at the parent only if that fails.

Running strace on "mkdir -p" shows that it is pessimistic, calling mkdir on
every element of the path. We could implement that if needed.

In any case, with both strategies there is no reason to call stat, just check
the return of mkdir.

f51d6eb340 Windows/Path.inc: Move <shlobj.h> after "Windows.h" for some API available.
I found that swapping the order of some header files helped fix a
build issue that we're seeing on mingw32. Without the swap, windows.h
was being included before _WIN32_WINNT was being defined and the
  CreateHardLinkW function was #ifdef'd out.

It looks like the header is mainly used to get the SHGetFolderPathW
function, so I don't think that there'll be much fallout from the
  switch.

Suggested by Alex Crichton. Thanks!

0644c7a8ab Fix an invalid check for duplicate option categories.
Summary:
The check performed in the comparator is invalid, as some STL
implementations enforce strict weak ordering by calling the comparator with the
same value. This check was also in a wrong place: the assertion would only fire
when -help was used. The new check is performed each time the category is
registered (we are not going to have thousands of them, so it's fine to do it in
O(N^2)).

9cd9208565 Fix configure to find arc4random via header files.
ISSUE:

On Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, arc4random is provided by libbsd.so, which is a
transitive dependency of libedit. If a system had libedit on it that
was implemented in terms of libbsd.so, then the arc4random test,
previously implemented as a linker test, would succeed with -ledit.
However, on Ubuntu this would also require a #include <bsd/stdlib.h>.
This caused a build breakage on configure-based Ubuntu 12.04 with
libedit installed.

FIX:

This fix changes configure to test for arc4random by searching for it
in the standard header files. On Ubuntu 12.04, this test now properly
fails to find arc4random as it is not defined in the default header
locations. It also tweaks the #define names to match the output of the
header check command, which is slightly different than the linker
function check #defines.

I tested the following scenarios:

(1) Ubuntu 12.04 without the libedit package [did not find arc4random,
as expected]

(2) Ubuntu 12.04 with libedit package [properly did not find
arc4random, as expected]

(3) Ubuntu 12.04 with most recent libedit, custom built, and not
dependent on libbsd.so [properly did not find arc4random, as
expected].

(4) FreeBSD 10.0B1 [properly found arc4random, as expected]

e3f8794329 Rename the non-templated base class of SmallPtrSet to
'SmallPtrSetImplBase'. This more closely matches the organization of
SmallVector and should allow introducing a SmallPtrSetImpl which serves
the same purpose as SmallVectorImpl: isolating the element type from the
particular small size chosen. This in turn allows a lot of
simplification of APIs by not coding them against a specific small size
which is rarely needed.

Note that this call was in the first implementation of Mutex, added in

bad91954cf StringRef: Extend constexpr capabilities and introduce ConstStringRef
(1) Add llvm_expect(), an asserting macro that can be evaluated as a constexpr
expression as well as a runtime assert or compiler hint in release builds. This
technique can be used to construct functions that are both unevaluated and
    compiled depending on usage.

(2) Update StringRef using llvm_expect() to preserve runtime assertions while
extending the same checks to static asserts in C++11 builds that support the
    feature.

(3) Introduce ConstStringRef, a strong subclass of StringRef that references
compile-time constant strings. It's convertible to, but not from, ordinary
StringRef and thus can be used to add compile-time safety to various interfaces
in LLVM and clang that only accept fixed inputs such as diagnostic format
strings that tend to get misused.

5ff21b4111 Introduce a simple line-by-line iterator type into the Support library.
This is an iterator which you can build around a MemoryBuffer. It will
iterate through the non-empty, non-comment lines of the buffer as
a forward iterator. It should be small and reasonably fast (although it
could be made much faster if anyone cares, I don't really...).

This will be used to more simply support the text-based sample
profile file format, and is largely based on the original patch by
Diego. I've re-worked the style of it and separated it from the work of
producing a MemoryBuffer from a file which both simplifies the interface
and makes it easier to test.

The style of the API follows the C++ standard naming conventions to fit
in better with iterators in general, much like the Path and FileSystem
interfaces follow standard-based naming conventions.

According to the docs, ThreadLocal<>::get() should return NULL
if no object has been set. This patch makes that the case also for non-thread
builds and adds a very basic unit test to check it.

(This was causing PR18205 because PrettyStackTraceHead didn't get zero-
initialized and we'd crash trying to read past the end of that list. We didn't
notice this so much on Linux since we'd crash after printing all the entries,
but on Mac we print into a SmallString, and would crash before printing that.)

b6c4a84592 Add warning capabilities in LLVM.
The patch adds a new LLVMContext::diagnose that can be used to communicate to
the front-end, if any, that something of interest happened.
The diagnostics are supported by a new abstraction, the DiagnosticInfo class.
The base class contains the following information:
- The kind of the report: What this is about.
- The severity of the report: How bad this is.

This patch also adds 2 classes:
- DiagnosticInfoInlineAsm: For inline asm reporting. Basically, this diagnostic
will be used to switch to the new diagnostic API for LLVMContext::emitError.
- DiagnosticStackSize: For stack size reporting. Comes as a replacement of the
hard coded warning in PEI.

This patch also features dynamic diagnostic identifiers. In other words plugins
can use this infrastructure for their own diagnostics (for more details, see
getNextAvailablePluginDiagnosticKind).

This patch introduces a new DiagnosticHandlerTy and a new DiagnosticContext in
the LLVMContext that should be set by the front-end to be able to map these
diagnostics in its own system.

e7a1e3ee82 [block-freq] Add BlockFrequency::scale that returns a remainder from the division and make the private scale in BlockFrequency more performant.
This change is the first in a series of changes improving LLVM's Block
Frequency propogation implementation to not lose probability mass in
branchy code when propogating block frequency information from a basic
block to its successors. This patch is a simple infrastructure
improvement that does not actually modify the block frequency
algorithm. The specific changes are:

1. Changes the division algorithm used when scaling block frequencies by
branch probabilities to a short division algorithm. This gives us the
remainder for free as well as provides a nice speed boost. When I
benched the old routine and the new routine on a Sandy Bridge iMac with
disabled turbo mode performing 8192 iterations on an array of length
32768, I saw ~600% increase in speed in mean/median performance.

2. Exposes a scale method that returns a remainder. This is important so
we can ensure that when we scale a block frequency by some branch
probability BP = N/D, the remainder from the division by D can be
retrieved and propagated to other children to ensure no probability mass
is lost (more to come on this).

0739140b05 Expose install_fatal_error_handler() through the C API.
I expose the API with some caveats:

- The C++ API involves a traditional void* opaque pointer for the fatal
error callback. The C API doesn’t do this. I don’t think that the void*
opaque pointer makes any sense since this is a global callback - there will
only be one of them. So if you need to pass some data to your callback,
just put it in a global variable.

- The bindings will ignore the gen_crash_diag boolean. I ignore it because
(1) I don’t know what it does, (2) it’s not documented AFAIK, and (3) I
couldn’t imagine any use for it. I made the gut call that it probably
wasn’t important enough to expose through the C API.

00f31bac0b Windows: Use GetModuleHandleEx instead of LoadLibrary
We were using an anti-pattern of:
 - LoadLibrary
 - GetProcAddress
 - FreeLibrary

This is problematic because of several reasons:
 - We are holding on to pointers into a library we just unloaded.
 - Calling LoadLibrary results in an increase in the reference count of
the library in question and any libraries that it depends on and
so-on and so-forth. This is none too quick.

Instead, use GetModuleHandleEx with GET_MODULE_HANDLE_EX_FLAG_PIN. This
is done because because we didn't bring the reference for the library
into existence and therefor shouldn't count on it being around later.

5a1a1856a4 Windows: Add support for unicode command lines
Summary:
The MSVCRT deliberately sends main() code-page specific characters.
This isn't too useful to LLVM as we end up converting the arguments to
UTF-16 and subsequently attempt to use the result as, for example, a
file name. Instead, we need to have the ability to access the Unicode
command line and transform it to UTF-8.

This has the distinct advantage over using the MSVC-specific wmain()
function as our entry point because:
 - It doesn't work on cygwin.
 - It only work on MinGW with caveats and only then on certain versions.
 - We get to keep our entry point as main(). :)

N.B. This patch includes fixes to other parts of lib/Support/Windows
s.t. we would be able to take advantage of getting the Unicode paths.
E.G. clang spawning clang -cc1 would want to give it Unicode arguments.

9599f51559 Unshift the GDB index/GNU pubnames constants modified in r191025
Based on code review feedback from Eric Christopher, unshifting these
constants as they can appear in the gdb_index itself, shifted a further
24 bits. This means that keeping them preshifted is a bit inflexible, so
let's not do that.

Given the motivation, wrap up some nicer enums, more type safety, and
some utility functions.

e94e0984df Make PrettyStackTraceEntry use ManagedStatic for its ThreadLocal.
This was somewhat tricky because ~PrettyStackTraceEntry() may run after
llvm_shutdown() has been called. This is rare and only happens for a common idiom
used in the main() functions of command-line tools. This works around the idiom by
skipping the stack clean-up if the PrettyStackTraceHead ManagedStatic is not
constructed (i.e. llvm_shutdown() has been called).

f42d4247ae Add getenv() wrapper that works on multibyte environment variable.
On Windows, character encoding of multibyte environment variable varies
depending on settings. The only reliable way to handle it I think is to use
GetEnvironmentVariableW().

GetEnvironmentVariableW() works on wchar_t string, which is on Windows UTF16
string. That's not ideal because we use UTF-8 as the internal encoding in LLVM.
This patch defines a wrapper function which takes and returns UTF-8 string for
GetEnvironmentVariableW().

The wrapper function does not do any conversion and just forwards the argument
to getenv() on Unix.

The only "consequence" of this bug is re-assigning 'str' to an empty

e179b31bfc [conf] Add config variable to disable crash related overrides.
- We do some nasty things w.r.t. installing or overriding signal handlers in
order to improve our crash recovery support or interaction with crash
reporting software, and those things are not necessarily appropriate when
LLVM is being linked into a client application that has its own ideas about
how to do things. This gives those clients a way to disable that handling at
   build time.

 - Currently, the code this guards is all Apple specific, but other platforms
might have the same concerns so I went for a more generic configure
name. Someone who is more familiar with library embedding on Windows can
handle choosing which of the Windows/Signals.inc behaviors might make sense
   to go under this flag.

 - This also fixes the proper autoconf'ing of ENABLE_BACKTRACES. The code
expects it to be undefined when disabled, but the autoconf check was just
   defining it to 0.

1053a0b9b4 Change default # of digits for APFloat::toString
This is a re-commit of r189442; I'll follow up with clang changes.

The previous default was almost, but not quite enough digits to
represent a floating-point value in a manner which preserves the
representation when it's read back in. The larger default is much
less confusing.

I spent some time looking into printing exactly the right number of
digits if a precision isn't specified, but it's kind of complicated,
and I'm not really sure I understand what APFloat::toString is supposed
to output for FormatPrecision != 0 (or maybe the current API specification
is just silly, not sure which). I have a WIP patch if anyone is interested.

which are clearly spec'ed in sys-v and other documentation. Just declare
them ourselves and call them. This should fix some debian builders and
provide better support for "minimal" debian systems that do want color
autodetection.

8d8bdff6d7 Target a minimal terminfo library rather than necessarily a full curses
library for color support detection. This still will use a curses
library if that is all we have available on the system. This change
tries to use a smaller subset of the curses library, specifically the
subset that is on some systems split off into a separate library. For
example, if you install ncurses configured --with-tinfo, a 'libtinfo' is
install that provides just the terminfo querying functionality. That
library is now used instead of curses when it is available.

This happens to fix a build error on systems with that library because
when we tried to link ncurses into the binary, we didn't pull tinfo in
as well. =]

It should also provide an easy path for supporting the NetBSD
libterminfo library, but as I don't have access to a NetBSD system I'm
leaving adding that support to those folks.

0a69bac396 Check for $PWD in llvm::sys::current_path.
Some users (clang, libTooling) require this. After this patch we can remove
the calls to getenv("PWD") from clang.

6cd4f2a2b3 Changed isPrint for U+00AD SOFT HYPHEN to return true.
Summary:
This is consistent with MacOSX implementation, and most terminals
actually display this character (checked on gnome-terminal, lxterminal, lxterm,
Terminal.app, iterm2). Actually, this is in line with the ISO Latin 1 standard
(ISO 8859-1), which defines it differently from the Unicode Standard. More

cf027a0d58 On Windows, autolink advapi32 from Path.inc for CryptAcquireContextW
This allows llvm-tblgen to link successfully when compiling with clang.

Both MSBuild and CMake will automatically add advapi32 as part of a set
of other dlls comprising the win32 API to the link line, but CMake
doesn't do that when compiling with clang. Until someone adds that info
to cmake upstream, this seems like a reasonable work around.

f7364d5833 Add support for linking against a curses library when available and
using it to detect whether or not a terminal supports colors. This
replaces a particularly egregious hack that merely compared the TERM
environment variable to "dumb". That doesn't really translate to
a reasonable experience for users that have actually ensured their
terminal's capabilities are accurately reflected.

This makes testing a terminal for color support somewhat more expensive,
but it is called very rarely anyways. The important fast path when the
output is being piped somewhere is already in place.

The global lock may seem excessive, but the spec for calling into curses
is *terrible*. The whole library is terrible, and I spent quite a bit of
time looking for a better way of doing this before convincing myself
that this was the fundamentally correct way to behave. The damage of the
curses library is very narrowly confined, and we continue to use raw
escape codes for actually manipulating the colors which is a much sane
system than directly using curses here (IMO).

If this causes trouble for folks, please let me know. I've tested it on
Linux and will watch the bots carefully. I've also worked to account for
the variances of curses interfaces that I could finde documentation for,
but that may not have been sufficient.

9e8eafa0f0 YAMLTraits.h: replace DenseMap that used a bad implementation of DenseMapInfo

The bug is that the empty key compares equal to the tombstone key.

Also added an assertion to DenseMap to catch similar bugs in future.
