c453f76e2b Switch the bitcode reader interface to take a MemoryBuffer instead of knowing 
anything about disk I/O itself.  This greatly simplifies its interface -
eliminating the need for the ReaderWrappers.cpp file.

This adds a new option to llvm-dis (-bitcode) which instructs it to read
the input file as bitcode.  Until/unless the bytecode reader is taught to
read from MemoryBuffer, there is no way to handle stdin reading without it.

I don't plan to switch the bytecode reader over, I'd rather delete it :),
so the option will stay around temporarily.

09e4b7e1b7 memory operands that have a direct operand should have their stores created 
before the copies into physregs are done.  This avoids having flag operands
skip the store, causing cycles in the dag at sched time.  This fixes infinite
loops on these tests:

44b2c5098f memory inputs to an inline asm are required to have an address available. 
If the operand is not already an indirect operand, spill it to a constant
pool entry or a stack slot.

This fixes PR1356 and CodeGen/X86/2007-04-27-InlineAsm-IntMemInput.ll

6bc6333a10 1. Don't swap byte order in scanf. It isn't necessary and leads to 
incorrect results (canonicalization was dropped several commits ago).
2. Add support for fscanf.
3. Suppress a warning about cast to pointer from non-pointer-sized integer.

24a3cc4c83 Fix for PR1306. 
- A register def / use now implicitly affects sub-register liveness but does
not affect liveness information of super-registers.
- Def of a larger register (if followed by a use later) is treated as
read/mod/write of a smaller register.

79b3bd395d If an alloca only has two types of uses: 1) reads 2) a memcpy/memmove that 
copies from a constant global, then we can change the reads to read from the
global instead of from the alloca.  This eliminates the alloca and the memcpy,
and promotes secondary optimizations (because the loads are now loads from
a constant global).

This is important for a common C idiom:

void foo() {
   int A[] = {1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9...};
   ... only reads of A ...
}

For some reason, people forget to mark the array static or const.

This triggers on these multisource benchmarks:
JM/ldecode: block_pos, [3 x [4 x [4 x i32]]]
FreeBench/mason: m, [18 x i32], inlined 4 times
MiBench/office-stringsearch: search_strings, [1332 x i8*]

2f9bb1a0a4 Support for the special case of a vector with the canonical form: 
vector_shuffle v1, v2, <2, 6, 3, 7>

I.e.

         vector_shuffle v, undef, <2, 2, 3, 3>

MMX only has a shuffle for v4i16 vectors. It needs to use the unpackh for
this type of operation.

d1458f1d30 Fix a bug that prevented the JIT from working correctly after llvm_shutdown. 
Pass info objects are initialized by static ctors, so deleting them at
llvm_shutdown time prevents resurrection from working.

ec06e9a670 When replacing a node in SimplifyDemandedBits, if the old node used any 
single-use nodes, they will be dead soon.  Make sure to remove them before

20b0abc24f Copy coalescing change to prevent a physical register from being pin to a 
long live interval that has low usage density.
1. Change order of coalescing to join physical registers with virtual
   registers first before virtual register intervals become too long.
2. Check size and usage density to determine if it's worthwhile to join.
3. If joining is aborted, assign virtual register live interval allocation
   preference field to the physical register.
4. Register allocator should try to allocate to the preferred register
   first (if available) to create identify moves that can be eliminated.

18feb92e91 merge several fields in GlobalValue to use the same word, move CallingConv 
field into SubclassData in Value.  This shrinks GlobalVAlue from 48->40
bytes, Function from 88->76, and GlobalVariable from 76->68.  This trims
4640 bytes off my testcase, reading a bc file without materializing any
functions.

f8dfef7437 The (negative) offset from a SymbolTableListTraits-using ilist to its container 
object is always constant.  As such, evaluate it at compile time instead of storing
it as an ivar in SymbolTableListTraits.  This shrinks every SymbolTableListTraits
ilist by a word, shrinking BasicBlock from 44->40 bytes, Function from 96->88 bytes,
and Module from 60->52 bytes.

17fcdd5e1b Refactor SymbolTableListTraits to only have a single pointer in it, instead 
of two.  This shrinkifies Function by 8 bytes (104->96) and Module by 8
bytes (68->60).  On a testcase of mine, this reduces the memory used to
read a module header from 565680b to 561024, a little over 4K.

c5494af8a9 Now that codegen prepare isn't defeating me, I can finally fix what I set 
out to do! :)

This fixes a problem where LSR would insert a bunch of code into each MBB
that uses a particular subexpression (e.g. IV+base+C).  The problem is that
this code cannot be CSE'd back together if inserted into different blocks.

This patch changes LSR to attempt to insert a single copy of this code and
share it, allowing codegenprepare to duplicate the code if it can be sunk
into various addressing modes.  On CodeGen/ARM/lsr-code-insertion.ll,
for example, this gives us code like:

        add r8, r0, r5
        str r6, [r8, #+4]

        ble LBB1_4      @cond_next
LBB1_3: @cond_true

dd77df3cbc Completely rewrite addressing-mode related sinking of code. In particular, 
this fixes problems where codegenprepare would sink expressions into load/stores
that are not valid, and fixes cases where it would miss important valid ones.

This fixes several serious codesize and perf issues, particularly on targets
with complex addressing modes like arm and x86.  For example, now we compile
CodeGen/X86/isel-sink.ll to:

69f80a63a2 Provide support for intrinsics that lower themselves to a function body. 
This can happen for intrinsics that are overloaded.  In such cases it is
necessary to emit a function prototype before the body of the function
that calls the intrinsic and to ensure we don't emit it multiple times.

3a508c94a6 the result of an inline asm copy can be an arbitrary VT that the register 
class supports.  In the case of vectors, this means we often get the wrong
type (e.g. we get v4f32 instead of v8i16).  Make sure to convert the vector
result to the right type.  This fixes CodeGen/X86/2007-04-11-InlineAsmVectorResult.ll

97c0e2107b Fix a bug where ICmpInst objects instantiated directly with a name would 
not retain that name. Not noticed because AsmParser always sets name after
construction. However, llvm2cpp noticed.

947aa7de67 Teach sys::Path how to recognize different kinds of object files for ELF 
and Mach-O systems. Additionally, correct the Mach-O logic code to look at
byte 12 not byte 15. Hopefully this fixes the llvm-ld warning on Darwin.

f4b1818728 Simplify SROA conversion to integer in some ways, make it more general in others. 
We now tolerate small amounts of undefined behavior, better emulating what
would happen if the transaction actually occurred in memory.  This fixes
SingleSource/UnitTests/2007-04-10-BitfieldTest.c on PPC, at least until
Devang gets a chance to fix the CFE from doing undefined things with bitfields :)

fa3e91242f For PR1146: 
* Add ParamAttrs to InvokeInst class too.
* Make sure all initializes of ParamAttrs in CallInst and InvokeInst are 0
* Destruct the ParamAttrs in Call/Invoke destructors to avoid memory
  leaks. This will change when ParamAttrsList is uniquified but needs to
  be correct until then.
