5fac55fafb Allow scalarrepl to treat an all-zero GEP just as bitcast. 
This includes not marking a GEP involving a vector as unsafe, but only when it
has all zero indices. This allows scalarrepl to work in a few more cases.

8c34cd287a rewrite bswap matching to be more general, allowing arbitrary 
shifting and masking inside a bswap expr.  This allows it to handle
the cases from PR2842, which involve the intermediate 'or' 
expressions being shifted, not just the input value.

c82b6a1ed2 Ignore loads from and stores to local memory (i.e. allocas) 
when deciding whether to mark a function readnone/readonly.
Since the pass is currently run before SROA, this may be

241f464d24 Fix fast-isel's handling of atomic instructions. They may 
expand to multiple basic blocks, in which case fast-isel
needs to informed of which block to use as it resumes
inserting instructions.

022b21ff7c Fix a bug in the local allocator's liveness computation where it 
was setting kill flags on tied uses in two-address instructions.
The kill flags were causing the allocator to think it could
allocate the use and its tied def in different registers.

da8ac5fd91 Avoid creating two TargetLowering objects for each target. 
Instead, just create one, and make sure everything that needs
it can access it. Previously most of the SelectionDAGISel
subclasses all had their own TargetLowering object, which was
redundant with the TargetLowering object in the TargetMachine
subclasses, except on Sparc, where SparcTargetMachine
didn't have a TargetLowering object. Change Sparc to work
more like the other targets here.

cce6c297c5 On Darwin ARM, memory needs special handling to do JIT. This patch expands 
this handling to work properly for modifying stub functions, relocations
back to entry points after JIT compilation, etc..

e47561ccff The result of getSetCCResultType (eg: i32) may be larger 
than the type an i1 is promoted to (eg: i8).  Account
for this.  Noticed by Tilmann Scheller on CellSPU; he
will hopefully take care of fixing this in LegalizeDAG
and adding a testcase!

8481ee7f52 Use a multimap rather than a map for holding the list of copies to insert, so we don't lose copies when two of them have 
the same source.  I don't know what I was thinking when I wrote this originally.
Note: There's probably a more efficient way to do this, but I need to think about it some more, and about what determinism
guarantees need to be present.

5bbee4b40a Work around an interaction between fast-isel and regalloc=local. The 
local register allocator's physreg liveness doesn't recognize subregs,
so it doesn't know that defs of %ecx that are immediately followed by
uses of %cl aren't dead. This comes up due to the way fast-isel emits
shift instructions.

This is a temporary workaround. Arguably, local regalloc should
handle subreg references correctly. On the other hand, perhaps
fast-isel should use INSERT_SUBREG instead of just assigning to the
most convenient super-register of %cl when lowering shifts.

This fixes MultiSource/Benchmarks/MallocBench/espresso,
MultiSource/Applications/hexxagon, and others, under -fast.

5e249b4a14 "The original bug was a complaint that _mm_srli_si128 mis-compiled when passed 
a constant vector ("{0x123, 0x456}" syntax).  The fix is to simplify the
_mm_srli_si128 macro, and  move the "* 8" from the macro into the compiler
back-end.  I can't change the existing __builtins because so many people are
using them :-(."

6d4b052579 Split x86's ADJCALLSTACK instructions into 32-bit and 64-bit forms. 
This allows the 64-bit forms to use+def RSP instead of ESP. This
doesn't fix any real bugs today, but it is more precise and it
makes the debug dumps on x86-64 look more consistent.

Also, add some comments describing the CALL instructions' physreg
operand uses and defs.

5d0392c6b3 Factorize code: remove variants of "strip off 
pointer bitcasts and GEP's", and centralize the
logic in Value::getUnderlyingObject.  The
difference with stripPointerCasts is that
stripPointerCasts only strips GEPs if all
indices are zero, while getUnderlyingObject
strips GEPs no matter what the indices are.

6f287b22d2 Add the new `-no-builtin' flag. This flag is meant to mimic the GCC 
`-fno-builtin' flag. Currently, it's used to replace "memset" with "_bzero"
instead of "__bzero" on Darwin10+. This arguably violates the meaning of this
flag, but is currently sufficient. The meaning of this flag should become more
specific over time.

f06c835f76 Optimize SelectionDAG's AssignTopologicalOrder even further. 
Completely eliminate the TopOrder std::vector. Instead, sort
the AllNodes list in place. This also eliminates the need to
call AllNodes.size(), a linear-time operation, before
performing the sort.

Also, eliminate the Sources temporary std::vector, since it
essentially duplicates the sorted result as it is being
built.

This also changes the direction of the topological sort
from bottom-up to top-down. The AllNodes list starts out in
roughly top-down order, so this reduces the amount of
reordering needed. Top-down is also more convenient for
Legalize, and ISel needed only minor adjustments.

- return attributes - inreg, zext and sext
- parameter attributes
- function attributes - nounwind, readonly, readnone, noreturn

Return attributes use 0 as the index.
Function attributes use ~0U as the index.

This patch requires corresponding changes in llvm-gcc and clang.

97135e1ee5 Factor out the code for determining when symblic addresses 
require RIP-relative addressing and use it to fix a bug
in X86FastISel in x86-64 PIC mode, where it was trying to
use base/index registers with RIP-relative addresses. This
fixes a bunch of x86-64 testsuite failures.

d751c64a67 If we have a function with an unreachable statement such that the ending debug 
information is in an unreachable block, then it's possible that the high/low pc
values won't be set for the dwarf information. E.g., this function:

has a call to "@llvm.dbg.region.end" only in the unreachable block:

The dwarf information emitted is something like:

Note that this is *not* the best fix for this problem, but a band-aid for an
gaping wound. This code needs to be changed when we revamp our debugging

df0c7bc52d Refactor the constant folding code into it's own function. And call it from both 
the SelectionDAG and DAGCombiner code. The only functionality change is that now
the DAG combiner is performing the constant folding for these operations instead
of being a no-op.

This is *not* in response to a bug, so there isn't a testcase.

9f07a290b9 Add a new pass AddReadAttrs which works out which functions 
can get the readnone/readonly attributes, and gives them it.
The plan is to remove markmodref (which did the same thing

ee2e403545 Add a new "fast" scheduler. This is currently basically just a 
copy of the BURRList scheduler, but with several parts ripped
out, such as backtracking, online topological sort maintenance
(needed by backtracking), the priority queue, and Sethi-Ullman
number computation and maintenance (needed by the priority
queue). As a result of all this, it generates somewhat lower
quality code, but that's its tradeoff for running about 30%
faster than list-burr in -fast mode in many cases.

This is somewhat experimental. Moving forward, major pieces of
this can be refactored with pieces in common with
ScheduleDAGRRList.cpp.

b5b6ec6488 FastISel: For calls, prefer using the callee's address as a constant 
over having it in a register. And wait until after checking type
legality before requesting that the callee address be placed in a
register. Also, fix support for calls with void return type.

This speeds up fast-isel isel time by about 15% and reduces
instruction counts by about 3% overall on certain testcases. It also
changes many indirect calls to direct calls.

50284d81f8 Change SelectionDAG::getConstantPool to always set the alignment of the 
ConstantPoolSDNode, using the target's preferred alignment for the
constant type.

In LegalizeDAG, when performing loads from the constant pool, the
ConstantPoolSDNode's alignment is used in the calls to getLoad and
getExtLoad.

This change prevents SelectionDAG::getLoad/getExtLoad from incorrectly
choosing the ABI alignment for constant pool loads when Alignment == 0.
The incorrect alignment is only a performance issue when ABI alignment
does not equal preferred alignment (i.e., on x86 it was generating
MOVUPS instead of MOVAPS for v4f32 constant loads when the default ABI
alignment for 128bit vectors is forced to 1 byte.)

Patch by Paul Redmond!

9468a9b6be - Change "ExternalSymbolSDNode" to "SymbolSDNode". 
- Add linkage to SymbolSDNode (default to external).
- Change ISD::ExternalSymbol to ISD::Symbol.

81b28ceab6 Improve instcombine's handling of integer min and max in two ways: 
- Recognize expressions like "x > -1 ? x : 0" as min/max and turn them
   into expressions like "x < 0 ? 0 : x", which is easily recognizable
   as a min/max operation.
 - Refrain from folding expression like "y/2 < 1" to "y < 2" when the
   comparison is being used as part of a min or max idiom, like
   "y/2 < 1 ? 1 : y/2". In that case, the division has another use, so
   folding doesn't eliminate it, and obfuscates the min/max, making it
   harder to recognize as a min/max operation.

These benefit ScalarEvolution, CodeGen, and anything else that wants to
recognize integer min and max.

fb2bbbe786 Re-enables the new vector select in the bitcode reader, by modifying the 
bitcode reader/writer as follows:

- add and use new bitcode FUNC_CODE_INST_VSELECT to handle the llvm
select opcode using either i1 or [N x i1] as the selector.
- retain old BITCODE FUNC_CODE_INST_SELECT in the bitcode reader to
handle select on i1 for backwards compatibility with existing bitcode
files.
- re-enable the vector-select.ll test program.

Also, rename the recently added bitcode opcode FUNC_CODE_INST_VCMP to
FUNC_CODE_INST_CMP2 and make the bitcode writer use it to handle
fcmp/icmp on scalars or vectors. In the bitcode writer, use
FUNC_CODE_INST_CMP for vfcmp/vicmp only. In the bitcode reader, have
FUNC_CODE_INST_CMP handle icmp/fcmp returning bool, for backwards
compatibility with existing bitcode files.

cases.  See the comment above OptimizeSMax for the full story, and
the testcase for an example. This cancels out a pessimization
commonly attributed to indvars, and will allow us to lift some of
the artificial throttles in indvars, rather than add new ones.

8dae138d06 Fix WriteAsOperand to not emit a leading space character. Adjust 
its callers to emit a space character before calling it when a
space is needed.

This fixes several spurious whitespace issues in
ScalarEvolution's debug dumps. See the test changes for
examples.

This also fixes odd space-after-tab indentation in the output
for switch statements, and changes calls from being printed like
this:
  call void @foo( i32 %x )
to this:
  call void @foo(i32 %x)

014278e6a1 Remove isImm(), isReg(), and friends, in favor of 
isImmediate(), isRegister(), and friends, to avoid confusion
about having two different names with the same meaning. I'm
not attached to the longer names, and would be ok with
changing to the shorter names if others prefer it.

095cc29f32 Define CallSDNode, an SDNode subclass for use with ISD::CALL. 
Currently it just holds the calling convention and flags
for isVarArgs and isTailCall.

And it has several utility methods, which eliminate magic
5+2*i and similar index computations in several places.

CallSDNodes are not CSE'd. Teach UpdateNodeOperands to handle
nodes that are not CSE'd gracefully.
