8fce16ef1a Do not return success after checking only the FIRST USE of a gep instruction. 
Instead, check all uses.
This fixes bug: ScalarRepl/2003-09-12-IncorrectPromote.ll
This also fixes the miscompilation of Ptrdist/bc

b884f597d6 Rework dominator interfaces to handle changes in the post-dominance 
construction.  Now there may be multiple root blocks, and null is a
special node used to mark the "virtual" exit node of a CFG.

706e61ead9 Rework post dominator information so that we do not have to 
unify all exit nodes of a function to compute post-dominance information.
This does not work with functions that have both unwind and return nodes,
because we cannot unify these blocks.  The new implementation is better
anyway. :)

44abf85ae7 Simplification of trip counting machinery. 
- make sure to check the indvar type before anything else (efficiency)
  - Make sure to insert the 'add' into the program, even though it'll be
    dead
  - Wrap code at 80 columns

1a51956d11 Don't explicitly use $SourceDir to find the tblgen files. This causes make 
some confusion when trying to generate files (it probably couldn't tell that
./file and $(SourceDir)/file may be the same file).
Now, just let VPATH find everything, and list the primary tblgen file first in
the list of dependencies so that we can just use $< to reference it in the make
rule.

This should hopefully fix the nightly tester.

410d1b5dea Updated to find source files using VPATH. This makes writing build rules 
much cleaner and easier.
Labeled .td as a suffix for tblgen files in Makefile.rules.
Modified build rules so that source files generated during the build are placed
in the build directory and not the source directory (and not in a Debug
directory).  This makes the system cleaner and allows us to have a read-only
source tree.

531922aaca Reverting back to the previous revision. 
We want to check for length 5 because we might get the "llvm." string as the
name.  That string is in the LLVM namespace and should be checked as such.
We also don't have to worry about garbage data because (I believe) the string
class will return a valid value.  So, the switch statement will work and we
don't have to worry about the code wandering into segfault land.

21ca6ee7cd Modified the check for intrinsic functions. All intrinsic functions have to 
be at least 6 characters, since something must follow the "llvm." string in the
function name.
This seems to fix an assertion failure with the SingleSource tests, too.

103f0c3472 Added some optimizations: 
* Generate a single BA instead of 6-instruction JUMP if possible
  (this occurs both in the creation and overwriting of the stub code)
* If possible, rewrite the ORIGINAL call to call the generated function
  directly, thus bypassing the stub entirely

Also added some statistics on how often calls are overwritten and how often the
CompilationCallback is invoked.

70975eef57 Make CreateArgv part of lli rather than part of ExecutionEngine. 
Switch Interpreter and JIT's "run" methods to take a Function and a vector of
 GenericValues.
Move (almost all of) the stuff that constructs a canonical call to main()
 into lli (new methods "callAsMain", "makeStringVector").
Nuke getCurrentExecutablePath(), enableTracing(), getCurrentFunction(),
 isStopped(), and many dead decls from interpreter.
Add linux strdup() support to interpreter.
Make interpreter's atexit handler runner and JIT's runAtExitHandlers() look
 more alike, in preparation for refactoring.
atexit() is spelled "atexit", not "at_exit".

bc4846d76c Removal of explicit stack, which requires the method to be a member (so it can

87ca5faed7 Remove the "recursive bit", not only is it unused by anyone, it was also 
not correctly calculated, and calculating it wrong for fun seems rather

dd4b421516 Change the code to no longer compute the "type description" immediately when 
the type is analyzed.  Instead, only compute it when requested (with
getDescription), and cached for reuse later.

This dramatically speeds up LLVM in general because these descriptions almost
_never_ need to be constructed.  The only time they are used is when a type is
<<'d.  Printing of modules by themselves uses other code to print symbolic
types when possible, so these descriptions are really only used for debugging.

Also, this fixes the particularly bad case when lots of types get resolved to
each other, such as during linking of large programs.  In these cases, the type
descriptions would be repeatedly recomputed and discarded even though: A. noone
reads the description before it gets resolved, and B. many many resolutions
happen at intermediate steps, causing a HUGE waste of time.

Overall, this makes the getTypeDesc function much more light-weight, and fixes
bug: Assembler/2002-07-08-HugePerformanceProblem.llx, which went from taking
1048.770u/19.150s (which is 17.5 MINUTES, on apoc), to taking 0.020u/0.000s,
which is a nice little speedup.  :)

2dbfa03fd8 Change the RaiseAllocations pass to be a Pass instead of a BasicBlock pass. 
This makes it more efficient: it doesn't have to scan the whole program, so
it performs work proportional to the number of malloc/free calls in the
program, not the size of the program.

cfd67c96dc * Use alloca() to force GCC not to eliminate frame pointer 
* Break apart saving and restoring registers into separate functions
* Instead of saving single and double FP registers, just save the double
  registers -- aliasing helps preserve the single FP registers as well.
* Request just as much memory for a stub as we actually use

aeb54b882c Add support for the llvm.unwind intrinsic, which we codegen to just do an abort 
until we implement unwinding.
Add support for the invoke instruction, which codegens just like a call with
a branch after it.

The end effect of this change is that programs using the invoke instruction,
but never unwinding, will work fine.  Programs that unwind will abort until
we get unwind support.

c879e8ffc4 Consult the target data, not the module, about how large the current pointer

6c23f57ebc Accept double quoted strings everwhere we accept a %ABC variable name. 
This introduces one more innoculous shift-reduce conflict, but will REALLY
help the type names generated by the C++ frontend, which wants to use all
kinds of crazy stuff.

69582b35b6 The JIT now passes the environment pointer to the main() function when it 
starts a program.  This allows the GNU env program to compile and JIT under
LLVM.

7540565863 Fix ABI issue: Longs really do need to be only 4 byte aligned on X86. 
This bug caused miscompilation of programs using 'struct stat', but only if
compiled with support for 64-bit filesystems.  This could in theory effect
other things, but only if the LLVM code shared data structures with native code.

c48ef2ae36 lib/Support/CommandLine.cpp: 
Many changes suggested by Chris. It's okay, I'll recover from the emotional
damage...maybe someday. :-)

Collapse ParseCStringVector into ParseStringVector.  Comment it.
Make it take a const input.
Use std::string::npos instead of -1 (what a mouthful!)
Make ParseEnvironmentOptions take const inputs.
Check its args at the very beginning.
Strdup all the contents of newArgv and free them all at the end.

include/Support/CommandLine.h:
Constify progName and envVar arguments to ParseEnvironmentOptions().

d2dfc9628d Now that the JIT memory manager allocates as many bytes as necessary rather than 
rounding up to a page, we need to request (num instrs * 4) bytes. However, I
think that 64 bytes is overkill for the stub function.

aee2fdf069 Give std::map<BasicBlock *, BasicBlock *> the short name BBMap, because 
it's used 7 different times.
Rename `getBackEdges' to `findAndInstrumentBackEdges', for clarity.
Remove some excess whitespace and commented-out code.
Use shorter forms of CallInst ctors.
Do not make `reopt_threshold' visible to the LLVM program, and do not
 pass it to the call to `reoptimizerInitialize'.  Don't pass the
 GlobalVariable representing it to any of our helper methods.
 `reopt_threshold' is an internal parameter of the reoptimizer, which
 InstLoops does not need to know about.

7d3c5795f9 Fixed a segfault in gccld. 
The original code does not work because the value from WorkList.end() is
invalidated once WorkList.erase() is called.  To ensure proper functionality,
we must ensure that WorkList.erase() is always called before WorkList.end().

0870e970ff Use the registers g1 and g5 as temporaries for making far jumps and far calls, 
because saving i1 and i2 to their ``designated'' stack slots corrupts unknown
memory in other functions, standard libraries, and worse.

In addition, this has the benefit of improving JIT performance because we
eliminate writing out 4 instructions in CompilationCallback() and 2 loads and 2
stores.

e895a740c7 1. Bug fix: was using SLL instead of SLLX for ULongTy. Chump. 
2. Handle fp-to-uint conversions directly here instead of relying on
   a pre-transformation to replace them with the 2-step conversion.
3. Use size rather than explicitly checking types when deciding what
   opcodes to use, wherever possible.  This is less error prone (the
   bug fix above was not the first time!).
4. Float-to-pointer casts shd now work though this hasn't been tested.

a2dd745613 All callers of these methods actually wanted them to preserve the flags, 
so get rid of the def/use parameters that were getting passed in.

**** This now changes the semantics of these methods to preserve the flags,
     not clobber them!

abf05b2dae * Start using tablegen'd instruction descriptions 
* Fix bug in the createNOP method, which was not marking the operands of the
  generated XCHG as useanddef.  I don't think this method is actually used,
  so it wasn't breaking anything, but it should be fixed anyway...

72666e6c30 Add all arithmetic operators to ConstantExprToString(). 
Note that some generated operators (like &, | or ^) may
not be supported by the assembler -- but if they've got
this far, it's better to generate them and let the assembler decide.

248932b08a Put back the separate pass to decompose multi-dimensional references 
since it is *necessary* for correct code generation.  Only optional
transformations belong in the PreOpts pass (which needs to be renamed
from PreSelection to PreOpts).

506dad0664 Modified the code so that it generates (0) for setjmp() and abort() for 
longjmp() (and does not include setjmp.h).
This is to fix some problems on Sparc while non-local jumps are still
unimplemented.
