f957012866 Update the names of the exception handling sjlj instrinsics to
llvm.eh.sjlj.* for better clarity as to their purpose and scope. Add
a description of llvm.eh.sjlj.setjmp to ExceptionHandling.html.
(llvm.eh.sjlj.longjmp documentation coming when that implementation is
added).

f59d10f1bc There's yet more ugliness (surprise!) in DebugInfo. This needs major reworking.
Basically, there was a situation where it was getting an empty vector and doing
a .back() on that. Which isn't cool.

df1ed67890 The IfConverter::MergeBlocks method appears to be used only to merge a basic
block with its unique predecessor.  Change the code to assert if that is not
the case, instead of trying to handle situations where the block has
multiple predecessors.

2afb3b7251 Removing the HasBuiltinSetjmp flag and associated bits. Flagging the presence
of exception handling builtin sjlj targets in functions turns out not to 
be necessary. Marking the intrinsic implementation in the .td file as 
defining all registers is sufficient to get the context saved properly by 
the containing function.

8308e8fae0 Revert a portion of Dan's change r71018 that I'm convinced is wrong.
Dan was trying to catch the case where a basic block ends with a conditional
branch to the fall-through block.  In this case, all the instructions have
been moved out of FromBBI, leaving it empty.  It cannot end with a
conditional branch.  As the existing comment indicates, it will always fall
through to the next block.  If the block already had the next block (NBB)
listed as a successor, the preceding loop has a check for that and does not
remove it.  Thus, we need to check and add the successor only when it is
not already listed.

With Dan's change, the empty block often ends up with the fall-through
successor listed twice.  This exposed the problem in pr4195, where
CodePlacementOpt did not handle the same predecessor listed more than once.
It is also at least partially responsible for pr4202 and probably a similar
issue with Thumb branches being out of range.

587daedce2 Change MachineInstrBuilder::addReg() to take a flag instead of a list of
booleans. This gives a better indication of what the "addReg()" is
doing. Remembering what all of those booleans mean isn't easy, especially if you
aren't spending all of your time in that code.

I took Jakob's suggestion and made it illegal to pass in "true" for the
flag. This should hopefully prevent any unintended misuse of this (by reverting
to the old way of using addReg()).

f3cc96e1f3 Move the bookkeeping of the debug scopes back to the place where it
belonged. The variable declaration stuff wasn't happy with it where it
was. Sorry that the testcase is so big. Bugpoint wasn't able to reduce it
successfully.

aab6ec49d2 calls in nothrow functions can be marked nothrow even if the callee
is not known to be nothrow.  This allows readnone/readonly functions
to be deleted even if we don't know whether the callee can throw.

467c430316 Add three new helper routines, getNoopOrZeroExtend,
getNoopOrSignExtend, and getTruncateOrNoop. These are similar
to getTruncateOrZeroExtend etc., except that they assert that
the conversion is either not widening or narrowing, as
appropriate. These will be used in some upcoming fixes.

7b9486ad43 Add an int64_t variant of abs, for host environments
without one.  Use it where we were using abs on
int64_t objects.
(I strongly suspect the casts to unsigned in the
fragments in LoopStrengthReduce are not doing whatever
the original intent was, but the obvious change to
uint64_t doesn't work.  Maybe later.)

0e0da734bb Add support for GCC compatible builtin setjmp and longjmp intrinsics. This is
a supporting preliminary patch for GCC-compatible SjLJ exception handling. Note that these intrinsics are not designed to be invoked directly by the user, but
rather used by the front-end as target hooks for exception handling.

74b0ccc577 Fix pr4195: When iterating through predecessor blocks, break out of the loop
after finding the (unique) layout predecessor.  Sometimes a block may be listed
more than once, and processing it more than once in this loop can lead to
inconsistent values for FtTBB/FtFBB, since the AnalyzeBranch method does not
clear these values.  There's no point in continuing the loop regardless.
The testcase for this is reduced from the 2003-05-02-DependentPHI SingleSource
test.

81db61a2e6 Factor the code for collecting IV users out of LSR into an IVUsers class,
and generalize it so that it can be used by IndVarSimplify. Implement the
base IndVarSimplify transformation code using IVUsers. This removes
TestOrigIVForWrap and associated code, as ScalarEvolution now has enough
builtin overflow detection and folding logic to handle all the same cases,
and more. Run "opt -iv-users -analyze -disable-output" on your favorite
loop for an example of what IVUsers does.

This lets IndVarSimplify eliminate IV casts and compute trip counts in
more cases. Also, this happens to finally fix the remaining testcases
in PR1301.

Now that IndVarSimplify is being more aggressive, it occasionally runs
into the problem where ScalarEvolutionExpander's code for avoiding
duplicate expansions makes it difficult to ensure that all expanded
instructions dominate all the instructions that will use them. As a
temporary measure, IndVarSimplify now uses a FixUsesBeforeDefs function
to fix up instructions inserted by SCEVExpander. Fortunately, this code
is contained, and can be easily removed once a more comprehensive
solution is available.

efb9fbfdab When forgetting SCEVs for loop PHIs, don't forget SCEVUnknown values.
These values aren't analyzable, so they don't care if more information
about the loop trip count can be had. Also, SCEVUnknown is used for
a PHI while the PHI itself is being analyzed, so it needs to be left
in the Scalars map. This fixes a variety of subtle issues.

42a5875e10 Fix GetMinTrailingZeros for SCEVSignExtend and SCEVZeroExtendExpr to
return the correct value when the cast operand is all zeros. This ought
to be pretty rare, because it would mean that the regular SCEV folding
routines missed a case, though there are cases they might legitimately
miss. Also, it's unlikely anything currently using GetMinTrailingZeros
cares about this case.

5792f51e12 Teach LSR to optimize more loop exit compares, i.e. change them to use postinc iv value. Previously LSR would only optimize those which are in the loop latch block. However, if LSR can prove it is safe (and profitable), it's now possible to change those not in the latch blocks to use postinc values.
Also, if the compare is the only use, LSR would place the iv increment instruction before the compare instead in the latch.

4e3fdf2c0f When scalarizing a vector BITCAST, check whether the operand has vector
type, rather than assume that it does. If the operand is not vector, it
shouldn't be run through ScalarizeVectorOp. This fixes one of the
testcases in PR3886.

0608b49819 Detect calls to compiler intrinsics and emit an extern declarations
only for those. These extern declarations to intrinsics are currently 
being emitted at the bottom of generated .s file, which works fine with
gpasm(not sure about MPSAM though).
PIC16 linker generates errors for few cases (function-args/struct_args_5) if you do not include any
extern declarations (even if no intrinsics are being used), but that
needs to be fixed in the linker itself.

a5c8a4e4e6 This is a large rewrite of how Dwarf info for inlined functions is handled.
The DwarfWriter expects DbgScopes and DIEs to behave themselves according to
DwarfWriter's rules. However, inlined functions violate these rules. There are
two different types of DIEs associated with an inlined function: an abstract
instance, which has information about the original source code for the function
being inlined; and concrete instances, which are created for each place the
function was inlined and point back to the abstract instance.

This patch tries to stay true to this schema. It bypasses how regular DbgScopes
and DIEs are created and used when necessary. It provides special handling for
DIEs of abstract and concrete instances.

This doesn't take care of all of the problems with debug info for inlined
functions, but it's a step in the right direction. For one thing, llvm-gcc
generates wrong IR (it's missing some llvm.dbg intrinsics at the point where the
function's inlined) for this example:

e34b723d3e A debug function start was not being recorded when the optimization level wasn't
None. However, we were always recording the region end. There's no longer a good
reason for this code to be separated out between the different opt levels, as it
was doing pretty much the same thing anyway.

6c4311dddb Mirror how Fast ISel determines if a region.end intrinsic is the end of an
inlined function or the end of a function. Before, this was never executing the
"inlined" version of the Record method.

e688fafd38 Compute the offsets of the compile units. We need this so that when we emit a
concrete instance of an inlined function, we can get the actual address of the
abstract instance inside of the compile unit.

This isn't currently used, but will be by a future check-in.

6bce643c36 Add memoization for getSCEVAtScope results for instructions
which are not analyzed with SCEV techniques, which can require
brute-forcing through a large number of instructions. This
fixes a massive compile-time issue on 400.perlbench (in
particular, the loop in MD5Transform).

ef554846f0 fix RewriteStoreUserOfWholeAlloca to use the correct type size
method, fixing a crash on PR4146.  While the store will 
ultimately overwrite the "padded size" number of bits in memory,
the stored value may be a subset of this size.  This function
only wants to handle the case where all bits are stored.

9d928c223f Fix pr4100. Do not remove no-op copies when they are dead. The register
scavenger gets confused about register liveness if it doesn't see them.
I'm not thrilled with this solution, but it only comes up when there are dead
copies in the code, which is something that hopefully doesn't happen much.

Here is what happens in pr4100: As shown in the following excerpt from the
debug output of llc, the source of a move gets reloaded from the stack,
inserting a new load instruction before the move.  Since that source operand
is a kill, the physical register is free to be reused for the destination
of the move.  The move ends up being a no-op, copying R3 to R3, so it is
deleted.  But, it leaves behind the load to reload %reg1028 into R3, and
that load is not updated to show that it's destination operand (R3) is dead.
The scavenger gets confused by that load because it thinks that R3 is live.

Starting RegAlloc of: %reg1025<def,dead> = MOVr %reg1028<kill>, 14, %reg0, %reg0
  Regs have values: 
  Reloading %reg1028 into R3
  Last use of R3[%reg1028], removing it from live set
  Assigning R3 to %reg1025
  Register R3 [%reg1025] is never used, removing it from live set

Alternative solutions might be either marking the load as dead, or zapping
the load along with the no-op copy.  I couldn't see an easy way to do
either of those, though.

1978426a94 Revert r70876 and add a testcase (@c7) showing the problem:
bits captured, but the pointer marked nocapture.  In fact
I now recall that this problem is why only readnone functions
returning void were considered before!  However keep a small
fix that was also in r70876: a readnone function returning
void can result in bits being captured if it unwinds, so
test for this.

to sorting SCEVs by their kind, sort SCEVs of the same kind according

43e91b9c2f Use X86AddrNumOperands instead of magic constant one
more place.  This fixes a bunch of x86-64 JIT regressions.
(Introduced when the value of the magic constant changed
in 68645.  At the time apparently nobody noticed; failures
were hidden in 70343-70439 by an unrelated bug, so showed
up again as "new" failures in 70440.)

5412d06e9c If a MachineBasicBlock has multiple ways of reaching another block,
allow it to have multiple CFG edges to that block. This is needed
to allow MachineBasicBlock::isOnlyReachableByFallthrough to work

35738ac150 Re-apply 70645, converting ScalarEvolution to use
CallbackVH, with fixes. allUsesReplacedWith need to
walk the def-use chains and invalidate all users of a
value that is replaced. SCEVs of users need to be
recalcualted even if the new value is equivalent. Also,
make forgetLoopPHIs walk def-use chains, since any
SCEV that depends on a PHI should be recalculated when
more information about that PHI becomes available.

af29a5235d Make DBG_STOPPOINT nodes, and therefore DBG_LABEL labels, get a DebugLoc, so that it
shows up in -print-machineinstrs.  This doesn't appear to affect anything, but it was
weird for some DBG_LABELs to have DebugLocs but not all of them.

c781a243a3 In some rare cases, the register allocator can spill registers but end up not utilizing registers at all. The fundamental problem is linearscan's backtracking can end up freeing more than one allocated registers. However, reloads and restores might be folded into uses / defs and freed registers might not be used at all.
VirtRegMap keeps track of allocations so it knows what's not used. As a horrible hack, the stack coloring can color spill slots with *free* registers. That is, it replace reload and spills with copies from and to the free register. It unfold instructions that load and store the spill slot and replace them with register using variants.

Not yet enabled. This is part 1. More coming.

db6fa29641 Convert ScalarEvolution to use CallbackVH for its internal map. This
makes ScalarEvolution::deleteValueFromRecords, and it's code that
subtly needed to be called before ReplaceAllUsesWith, unnecessary.

It also makes ValueDeletionListener unnecessary.

afc36a9520 Previously, RecursivelyDeleteDeadInstructions provided an option
of returning a list of pointers to Values that are deleted. This was
unsafe, because the pointers in the list are, by nature of what
RecursivelyDeleteDeadInstructions does, always dangling. Replace this
with a simple callback mechanism. This may eventually be removed if
all clients can reasonably be expected to use CallbackVH.

Use this to factor out the dead-phi-cycle-elimination code from LSR
utility function, and generalize it to use the
RecursivelyDeleteTriviallyDeadInstructions utility function.

This makes LSR more aggressive about eliminating dead PHI cycles;
adjust tests to either be less trivial or to simply expect fewer
instructions.

1dcad96dc6 Don't split critical edges during the AddUsersIfInteresting phase
of LSR. This makes the AddUsersIfInteresting phase of LSR a pure
analysis instead of a phase that potentially does CFG modifications.

The conditions where this code would actually perform a split are
rare, and in the cases where it actually would do a split the split
is usually undone by CodeGenPrepare, and in cases where splits
actually survive into codegen, they appear to hurt more often than
they help.

9f2d671b15 Make RequiresTypeConversion canonicalize the types before calling the

9032b78c98 When printing a SCEVUnknown with pointer type, don't print an
artificial "ptrtoint", as it tends to clutter up complicated
expressions. The cast operators now print both source and
destination types, which is usually sufficient.

a1af757e0a Extend ScalarEvolution's getBackedgeTakenCount to be able to
compute an upper-bound value for the trip count, in addition to
the actual trip count. Use this to allow getZeroExtendExpr and
getSignExtendExpr to fold casts in more cases.

This may eventually morph into a more general value-range
analysis capability; there are certainly plenty of places where
more complete value-range information would allow more folding.

0490dcb1b7 Add a smarter heuristic to determine when to coalesce a virtual register with a physical one. More specifically, it avoid tying a virtual register in the loop with a physical register defined / used outside the loop. When it determines it's not profitable, it will use the physical register as the allocation preference instead.
This is *not* turned on by default. Testing indicates this is just as likely to pessimize code. The main issue seems to be allocation preference doesn't work effectively. That will change once I've taught register allocator "swapping".

6c147293d6 fix a regression handling indirect results: these need to be considered
memory operands otherwise the writebacks get lost when the inline asm 
doesn't otherwise have side effects.  This fixes rdar://6839427, though
clang really shouldn't generate these anymore.

672452d5a0 Disable the load-shrinking optimization from looking at
anything larger than 64-bits, avoiding a crash.  This should
really be fixed to use APInts, though type legalization happens
to help us out and we get good code on the attached testcase at
least.

control over which optimizations are run at different -O levels.

"Fast" flag. I'll change the JIT with a follow-up patch.

08e791fdb3 Don't coalesce a physical register with an incompatible virtual register.
If the physical register does not belong to the virtual register's regclass,
don't coalesce. The physical register could be an invalid operand for an
instruction using the vreg.

The regclass matching is done after determining the actual subregisters being copied.

01ecca20bf Teach getZeroExtendExpr and getSignExtendExpr to use trip-count
information to simplify [sz]ext({a,+,b}) to {zext(a),+,[zs]ext(b)},
as appropriate.

These functions and the trip count code each call into the other, so
this requires careful handling to avoid infinite recursion. During
the initial trip count computation, conservative SCEVs are used,
which are subsequently discarded once the trip count is actually
known.

Among other benefits, this change lets LSR automatically eliminate
some unnecessary zext-inreg and sext-inreg operation where the
operand is an induction variable.

9008ca6b6b 2nd attempt, fixing SSE4.1 issues and implementing feedback from duncan.
PR2957

ISD::VECTOR_SHUFFLE now stores an array of integers representing the shuffle
mask internal to the node, rather than taking a BUILD_VECTOR of ConstantSDNodes
as the shuffle mask.  A value of -1 represents UNDEF.

In addition to eliminating the creation of illegal BUILD_VECTORS just to 
represent shuffle masks, we are better about canonicalizing the shuffle mask,
resulting in substantially better code for some classes of shuffles.

4af325d1b4 Rename GR8_ABCD to GR8_ABCD_L and create GR8_ABCD_H, and use these
to precisely describe the h-register subreg register classes.

e2bcf13be5 Under unusual circumstances (jitting a function that causes the creation of
another stub, but then never calling the jitted function) can cause the JIT to
leave a stub in place. Judging by the comments this is a known deficiency, so
we're just not going to use AssertingVH for the StubToFunctionTy map.

Also shorten some lines longer than 80 columns.

This fixes the "make check" failure with ocaml on x86-64 linux.

962dde3cef Make a major API change to BitstreamReader: split all the reading
state out of the BitstreamReader class into a BitstreamCursor class.
Doing this allows the client to have multiple cursors into the same
file, each with potentially different live block stacks and
abbreviation records.

a2165ed6ee Allow aliasee to be a GEP or bitcast instead of just a bitcast.
The real fix for this whole mess is to require the operand of the
alias to be a *GlobalValue* (not a general constant, including 
constant exprs) but allow the operand and the alias type to be
unrelated.

4cdc44c82c Fix g++-4.4.0 warning, it was causing llvm-nm to fail on wrapped BC files:
Path.cpp:59: warning: case label value exceeds maximum value for type
magic[0] is a (signed) char, but some case values are unsigned (e.g. 0xde).
When magic[0] was 0xde, the switch has taken the default branch instead of case
0xde branch.
Apparently this was the behaviour with older versions of gcc too, but not with g++.
Now g++-4.4 behaves as gcc, and ignores unsigned case values out of range signed
range.

0adb527d16 Do not share a single unknown val# for all the live ranges merged into a physical sub-register live interval. When coalescer is merging in clobbered virtaul register live interval into a physical register live interval, give each virtual register val# a separate val# in the physical register live interval. Otherwise, the coalescer would have lost track of the definitions information it needs to make correct coalescing decisions.

4d59e1d666 Fix up some problems with getCopyToReg and getCopyFromReg nodes being
chained and "flagged" together.  I also made a few changes to handle the
chain and flag values more consistently.  I found these problems by
inspection so I'm not aware of anything that breaks because of them
(thus no testcase).

b706d29f9c PR2957
ISD::VECTOR_SHUFFLE now stores an array of integers representing the shuffle
mask internal to the node, rather than taking a BUILD_VECTOR of ConstantSDNodes
as the shuffle mask.  A value of -1 represents UNDEF.

In addition to eliminating the creation of illegal BUILD_VECTORS just to 
represent shuffle masks, we are better about canonicalizing the shuffle mask,
resulting in substantially better code for some classes of shuffles.

A clean up of x86 shuffle code, and some canonicalizing in DAGCombiner is next.

98d07102d6 Instead of requiring TLI.LowerCallTo to return an ISD::BUILD_PAIR,
use ISD::EXTRACT_ELEMENT. SelectionDAG has a special fast-path for

common case.

752ec7da50 Change SCEVExpander's expandCodeFor to provide more flexibility
with the persistent insertion point, and change IndVars to make
use of it. This fixes a bug where IndVars was holding on to a
stale insertion point and forcing the SCEVExpander to continue to
use it.

This fixes PR4038.

aabb04f527 SCEVExpander's InsertCastOfTo knows how to move existing cast
instructions in order to avoid inserting new ones. However, if
the cast instruction is the SCEVExpander's InsertPt, this
causes subsequently emitted instructions to be inserted near
the cast, and not at the location of the original insert point.
Fix this by adjusting the insert point in such cases.
This fixes PR4009.

5b69ebac85 It has finally happened. Spiller is now using live interval info.
This fixes a very subtle bug. vr defined by an implicit_def is allowed overlap with any register since it doesn't actually modify anything. However, if it's used as a two-address use, its live range can be extended and it can be spilled. The spiller must take care not to emit a reload for the vn number that's defined by the implicit_def. This is both a correctness and performance issue.

578ccf81e5 When turning (ashr(shl(x, n), n)) into sext(trunc(x)), the width of the
type to truncate to should be the number of bits of the value that are
preserved, not the number that are clobbered with sign-extension.
This fixes regressions in ldecod.

From linearscan's point of view, each of reg2036, 2037, and 2038 are separate registers, each is "killed" after a single use. The reloaded register is available and it's often clobbered right away. e.g. In thise case reg1498 is allocated EAX while reg2036 is allocated RAX. This means we end up with multiple reloads from the same stack slot in the same basic block.

Now linearscan recognize there are other reloads from same SS in the same BB. So it'll "downgrade" RAX (and its aliases) after reg2036 is allocated until the next reload (reg2037) is done. This greatly increase the likihood reloads from SS are reused.

This speeds up sha1 from OpenSSL by 5.8%. It is also an across the board win for SPEC2000 and 2006.

b10b5ac8d9 Don't try to make BUILD_VECTOR operands have the same
type as the vector element type: allow them to be of
a wider integer type than the element type all the way
through the system, and not just as far as LegalizeDAG.
This should be safe because it used to be this way
(the old type legalizer would produce such nodes), so
backends should be able to handle it.  In fact only
targets which have legal vector types with an illegal
promoted element type will ever see this (eg: <4 x i16>
on ppc).  This fixes a regression with the new type
legalizer (vec_splat.ll).  Also, treat SCALAR_TO_VECTOR
the same as BUILD_VECTOR.  After all, it is just a
special case of BUILD_VECTOR.

0e4042d30b In the list-burr's pseudo two-addr dependency heuristics, don't
add dependencies on nodes with exactly one successor which is a
COPY_TO_REGCLASS node. In the case that the copy is coalesced
away, the dependence should be on the user of the copy, rather
than the copy itself.

2d1be87ee4 Expand GEPs in ScalarEvolution expressions. SCEV expressions can now
have pointer types, though in contrast to C pointer types, SCEV
addition is never implicitly scaled. This not only eliminates the
need for special code like IndVars' EliminatePointerRecurrence
and LSR's own GEP expansion code, it also does a better job because
it lets the normal optimizations handle pointer expressions just
like integer expressions.

Also, since LLVM IR GEPs can't directly index into multi-dimensional
VLAs, moving the GEP analysis out of client code and into the SCEV
framework makes it easier for clients to handle multi-dimensional
VLAs the same way as other arrays.

Some existing regression tests show improved optimization.
test/CodeGen/ARM/2007-03-13-InstrSched.ll in particular improved to
the point where if-conversion started kicking in; I turned it off
for this test to preserve the intent of the test.

6d9305c7fd Add a new MOV8rr_NOREX, and make X86's copyRegToReg use it when
either the source or destination is a physical h register.

This fixes sqlite3 with the post-RA scheduler enabled.

5ec3b427c8 When the result of an EXTRACT_SUBREG, INSERT_SUBREG, or SUBREG_TO_REG
operator is used by a CopyToReg to export the value to a different
block, don't reuse the CopyToReg's register for the subreg operation
result if the register isn't precisely the right class for the
subreg operation.

Also, rename the h-registers.ll test, now that there are more
than one.

0526653956 Call CreateProcess with bInheritHandles = TRUE.
Makes llvmc show error messages printed by child processes when run from the
Cygwin/MSYS shell. Since ExecuteAndWait does not return until the child program
has finished execution, this change should be harmless.
