90a34679ef [SystemZ] Fix choice of known-zero mask in insertion optimization
The backend converts 64-bit ORs into subreg moves if the upper 32 bits
of one operand and the low 32 bits of the other are known to be zero.
It then tries to peel away redundant ANDs from the upper 32 bits.

Since AND masks are canonicalized to exclude known-zero bits,
the test ORs the mask and the known-zero bits together before
checking for redundancy. The problem was that it was using the
wrong node when checking for known-zero bits, so could drop ANDs
that were still needed.

239ffb30b0 Enhance the fix of PR17631
- The fix to PR17631 fixes part of the cases where 'vzeroupper' should
  not be issued before 'call' insn. There're other cases where helper
  calls will be inserted not limited to epilog. These helper calls do
  not follow the standard calling convention and won't clobber any YMM
  registers. (So far, all call conventions will clobber any or part of
  YMM registers.)
  This patch enhances the previous fix to cover more cases 'vzerosupper' should
  not be inserted by checking if that function call won't clobber any YMM
  registers and skipping it if so.

07fc4841b1 Disable Remote MCJIT tests on ARM
The communication protocol is unstable on ARM when compiled
with Clang, which is disrupting the self-hosting buildbots that
are going to be added this week. I'm working on a solution, but
remote MCJIT is not high-priority for ARM at the moment, so it
might take a while.

5004f51a33 Copy input files to test directory.
With r196184, llvm-cov creates a new file right next to the input file.
However, the Inputs-directory can't simply be assumed to be writable
under all build systems.

Also, this prevents a new source file from showing up in the source tree
if the test aborts before the call to "rm".

6cd7a3fa79 llvm-cov: Removed output to STDOUT/specified file.
Instead of asking the user to specify a single file to output coverage
info and defaulting to STDOUT, llvm-cov now creates files for each
source file with a naming system of: <source filename> + ".llcov".

This is what gcov does and although it can clutter the working directory
with numerous coverage files, it will be easier to hook the llvm-cov
output to tools which operate on this assumption (such as lcov).

Add a helper function getDebugInfoVersionFromModule to return the debug info

It will seg fault when calling getDebugInfoVersionFromModule because of the
incorrect format for module flags in the testing case. We make
getModuleFlagsMetadata more robust by checking for error conditions.

f19c6f5763 XCore target: Make handling of large frames not dependent upon an FP.
eliminateFrameIndex() has been reworked to handle both small & large frames
with either a FP or SP.
An additional Slot is required for Scavenging spills when not using FP for large frames.
Reworked the handling of Register Scavenging.

Whether we are using an FP or not, whether it is a large frame or not,
and whether we are using a large code model or not are now independent.

f715d51769 ARM: add pseudo-instructions for lit-pool global materialisation
These are used by MachO only at the moment, and (much like the existing
MOVW/MOVT set) work around the fact that the labels used in the actual
instructions often contain PC-dependent components, which means that repeatedly
materialising the same global can't be CSEed.

With small modifications, it could be adapted to how ELF finds the address of
_GLOBAL_OFFSET_TABLE_, which would give similar benefits in PIC mode there.

883abacb5b XCore target: Add large code model
When using large code model:
Global objects larger than 'CodeModelLargeSize' bytes are placed in sections named with a trailing ".large"
The folded global address of such objects are lowered into the const pool.

During inspection it was noted that LowerConstantPool() was using a default offset of zero.
A fix was made, but due to only offsets of zero being generated, testing only verifies the change is not detrimental.

Correct the flags emitted for explicitly specified sections.

We assume the size of the object queried by getSectionForConstant() is never greater than CodeModelLargeSize.
To handle greater than CodeModelLargeSize, changes to AsmPrinter would be required.

dff57f19a1 PR17925 bugfix.
Short description.

This issue is about case of treating pointers as integers.
We treat pointers as different if they references different address space.
At the same time, we treat pointers equal to integers (with machine address
width). It was a point of false-positive. Consider next case on 32bit machine:

void foo0(i32 addrespace(1)* %p)
void foo1(i32 addrespace(2)* %p)
void foo2(i32 %p)

foo0 != foo1, while
foo1 == foo2 and foo0 == foo2.

As you can see it breaks transitivity. That means that result depends on order
of how functions are presented in module. Next order causes merging of foo0
and foo1: foo2, foo0, foo1
First foo0 will be merged with foo2, foo0 will be erased. Second foo1 will be
merged with foo2.
Depending on order, things could be merged we don't expect to.

The fix:
Forbid to treat any pointer as integer, except for those, who belong to address space 0.

501aeea325 StackMap: Implement support for DirectMemRefOp.
A Direct stack map location records the address of frame index. This
address is itself the value that the runtime requested. This differs
from IndirectMemRefOp locations, which refer to a stack locations from
which the requested values must be loaded. Direct locations can
directly communicate the address if an alloca, while IndirectMemRefOp
handle register spills.

For example:

entry:
  %a = alloca i64...
  llvm.experimental.stackmap(i32 <ID>, i32 <shadowBytes>, i64* %a)

Since both the alloca and stackmap intrinsic are in the entry block,
and the intrinsic takes the address of the alloca, the runtime can
assume that LLVM will not substitute alloca with any intervening
value. This must be verified by the runtime by checking that the stack
map's location is a Direct location type. The runtime can then
determine the alloca's relative location on the stack immediately after
compilation, or at any time thereafter. This differs from Register and
Indirect locations, because the runtime can only read the values in
those locations when execution reaches the instruction address of the
stack map.

1edc33b924 ARM integrated assembler generates incorrect nop opcode
This patch fixes a bug in the assembler that was causing bad code to
be emitted. When switching modes in an assembly file (e.g. arm to
thumb mode) we would always emit the opcode from the original mode.

Consider this small example:

$ cat align.s
.code 16
foo:
  add r0, r0
.align 3
  add r0, r0

$ llvm-mc -triple armv7-none-linux align.s -filetype=obj -o t.o
$ llvm-objdump -triple thumbv7 -d t.o
Disassembly of section .text:
foo:
       0:       00 44         add     r0, r0
       2:       00 f0 20 e3   blx #4195904
       6:       00 00         movs    r0, r0
       8:       00 44         add     r0, r0

This shows that we have actually emitted an arm nop (e320f000)
instead of a thumb nop. Unfortunately, this encodes to a thumb
branch which causes bad things to happen when compiling assembly
code with align directives.

The fix is to notify the ARMAsmBackend when we switch mode. The
MCMachOStreamer was already doing this correctly. This patch makes
the same change for the MCElfStreamer.

There is still a bug in the way nops are emitted for alignment
because the MCAlignment fragment does not store the correct mode.
The ARMAsmBackend will emit nops for the last mode it knew about. In
the example above, we still generate an arm nop if we add a `.code
32` to the end of the file.

4ac67fa809 Fixed tryFoldToZero() for vector types that need expansion.
Summary:
Moved the requirement for SelectionDAG::getConstant() to return legally
typed nodes slightly earlier. There were two optional DAGCombine passes
that were missed out and were required to produce type-legal DAGs.

Simplified a code-path in tryFoldToZero() to use SelectionDAG::getConstant().
This provides support for both promoted and expanded vector types whereas the
previous code only supported promoted vector types.

Fixes a "Type for zero vector elements is not legal" assertion detected by
an llvm-stress generated test.

to what is needed for constant islands. The prescan method for Mips16 constant
islands will eventually go away. It is only temporary and should be done
earlier when the instructions are first created or from the DAG. If we keep
it here we need to handle better the situation where constant islands
is called multiple times since don't want to prescan more than once.

ab3cb5cf1b Fix a funny bug I introduced during conversion of ARM constant islands to Mips.
I had to move some code and I moved a declaration forward past it's first use
in the function but by nutty coincidence there was another variable of the same
name and type and with completely unrelated function that was declared globally
in the class so no compilation error ensued.
It required some unusual conditions for it to even matter. Caused test
case casts.c in test-suite to fail during compilation with a duplicate
symbol error. I would have noticed it during final code review for this port.

e1af5f6ad1 X86: Perform integer comparisons at i32 or larger.
Utilizing the 8 and 16 bit comparison instructions, even when an input can
be folded into the comparison instruction itself, is typically not worth it.
There are too many partial register stalls as a result, leading to significant
slowdowns. By always performing comparisons on at least 32-bit
registers, performance of the calculation chain leading to the
comparison improves. Continue to use the smaller comparisons when
minimizing size, as that allows better folding of loads into the
comparison instructions.

16c7e0b48c Teach ISel not to optimize 'optnone' functions (revised).
Improvements over r195317:
- Set/restore EnableFastISel flag instead of just running FastISel within
  SelectAllBasicBlocks; the flag is checked in various places, and
  FastISel won't run properly if those places don't do the right thing.
- Test looks for normal ISel versus FastISel behavior, and not
  something more subtle that doesn't work everywhere.

original message:

Convert linkonce* to weak* instead of strong.

Also refactor the logic into a helper function. This is an important improve

Converting to weak ensures that the symbol is not dropped, but keeps in a

2d5d104c5b In Dwarf 3 (and Dwarf 2) attributes whose value are offsets into a
section use the form DW_FORM_data4 whilst in Dwarf 4 and later they
use the form DW_FORM_sec_offset.

This patch updates the places where such attributes are generated to
use the appropriate form depending on the Dwarf version. The DIE entries
affected have the following tags:
DW_AT_stmt_list, DW_AT_ranges, DW_AT_location, DW_AT_GNU_pubnames,
DW_AT_GNU_pubtypes, DW_AT_GNU_addr_base, DW_AT_GNU_ranges_base

It also adds a hidden command line option "--dwarf-version=<uint>"
to llc which allows the version of Dwarf to be generated to override
what is specified in the metadata; this makes it possible to update
existing tests to check the debugging information generated for both
Dwarf 4 (the default) and Dwarf 3 using the same metadata.

46f7257ed1 SHLD/SHRD are VectorPath (microcode) instructions known to have poor latency on certain architectures. While generating SHLD/SHRD instructions is acceptable when optimizing for size, optimizing for speed on these platforms should be implemented using alternative sequences of instructions composed of add, adc, shr, shl, or and lea which are directPath instructions. These alternative instructions not only have a lower latency but they also increase the decode bandwidth by allowing simultaneous decoding of a third directPath instruction.
AMD's processors family K7, K8, K10, K12, K15 and K16 are known to have SHLD/SHRD instructions with very poor latency. Optimization guides for these processors recommend using an alternative sequence of instructions. For these AMD's processors, I disabled folding (or (x << c) | (y >> (64 - c))) when we are not optimizing for size.

It might be beneficial to disable this folding for some of the Intel's processors. However, since I couldn't find specific recommendations regarding using SHLD/SHRD instructions on Intel's processors, I haven't disabled this peephole for Intel.

f89ddfccc0 Add support for legalizing SETNE/SETEQ by inverting the condition code and the result of the comparison.
Summary:
LegalizeSetCCCondCode can now legalize SETEQ and SETNE by returning the inverse
condition and requesting that the caller invert the result of the condition.

The caller of LegalizeSetCCCondCode must handle the inverted CC, and they do
so as follows:
  SETCC, BR_CC:
    Invert the result of the SETCC with SelectionDAG::getNOT()
  SELECT_CC:
    Swap the true/false operands.

This is necessary for MSA which lacks an integer SETNE instruction.

072ebe59e2 The basic problem is that some mainstream programs cannot deal with the way
clang optimizes tail calls, as in this example:

int foo(void);
int bar(void) {
 return foo();
}

where the call is transformed to:

  calll .L0$pb
.L0$pb:
  popl  %eax
.Ltmp0:
  addl  $_GLOBAL_OFFSET_TABLE_+(.Ltmp0-.L0$pb), %eax
  movl  foo@GOT(%eax), %eax
  popl  %ebp
  jmpl  *%eax                   # TAILCALL

However, the GOT references must all be resolved at dlopen() time, and so this
approach cannot be used with lazy dynamic linking (e.g. using RTLD_LAZY), which
usually populates the PLT with stubs that perform the actual resolving.

This patch changes X86TargetLowering::LowerCall() to skip tail call
optimization, if the called function is a global or external symbol.

16e2f0ef1a MachineBlockPlacement: Strengthen the source order bias when picking an exit block.
We now only allow breaking source order if the exit block frequency is
significantly higher than the other exit block. The actual bias is
currently under a flag so the best cut-off can be found; the flag
defaults to the old behavior. The idea is to get some benchmark coverage
over different values for the flag and pick the best one.

When we require the new frequency to be at least 20% higher than the old
frequency I see a 5% speedup on zlib's deflate when compressing a random
file on x86_64/westmere. Hal reported a small speedup on Fhourstones on
a BG/Q and no regressions in the test suite.

The test case is the full long_match function from zlib's deflate. I was
reluctant to add it for previous tweaks to branch probabilities because
it's large and potentially fragile, but changed my mind since it's an
important use case and more likely to break with all the current work
going into the PGO infrastructure.

e4e260e6a7 FileCheck: fix a bug with multiple --check-prefix options. Similar to r194565
Summary:
Directives are being ignored, when they occur between a partial-word false
match and any match on another prefix.

For example, with FOO and BAR prefixes:
   _FOO
   FOO: foo
   BAR: bar
FileCheck incorrectly matches:
   fog
   bar

This happens because FOO falsely matched as a partial word at '_FOO' and was
ignored while BAR matched at 'BAR:'. The match of BAR is incorrectly returned
as the 'first match' causing the FOO directive to be discarded.

Fixed this the same way as r194565 (D2166) did for a similar test case.
The partial-word false match should be counted as a match for the purposes of
finding the first match of a prefix, but should be returned as a false match
using CheckTy::CheckNone so that it isn't treated as a directive.

eda8f6708d PPC: Optimize rldicl generation for masked shifts
Masking operations (where only some number of the low bits are being kept) are
selected to rldicl(x, 0, mb). If x is a logical right shift (which would become
rldicl(y, 64-n, n)), we might be able to fold the two instructions together:

  rldicl(rldicl(x, 64-n, n), 0, mb) -> rldicl(x, 64-n, mb) for n <= mb

The right shift is really a left rotate followed by a mask, and if the explicit
mask is a more-restrictive sub-mask of the mask implied by the shift, only one
rldicl is needed.

It extends the .section directive a bit, inspired by what the ELF one looks

we would already have switched sections when getting to .linkonce. The cleanest
solution seems to be to add the comdat information in the .section itself.

ed1951e79f Fix an issue where SROA computed different results based on the relative
order of slices of the alloca which have exactly the same size and other
properties. This was found by a perniciously unstable sort
implementation used to flush out buggy uses of the algorithm.

The fundamental idea is that findCommonType should return the best
common type it can find across all of the slices in the range. There
were two bugs here previously:

1) We would accept an integer type smaller than a byte-width multiple,
   and if there were different bit-width integer types, we would accept
   the first one. This caused an actual failure in the testcase updated
   here when the sort order changed.
2) If we found a bad combination of types or a non-load, non-store use
   before an integer typed load or store we would bail, but if we found
   the integere typed load or store, we would use it. The correct
   behavior is to always use an integer typed operation which covers the
   partition if one exists.

While a clever debugging sort algorithm found problem #1 in our existing
test cases, I have no useful test case ideas for #2. I spotted in by
inspection when looking at this code.

The backedge count is 255. The induction variable type is i8. If we add one to
255 to get the exit count we overflow to zero.

To work around this issue we extend the type of the induction variable to i32 in
the case of i8 and i16.

390564206f Add the cold attribute to error-reporting call sites
Generally speaking, control flow paths with error reporting calls are cold.
So far, error reporting calls are calls to perror and calls to fprintf,
fwrite, etc. with stderr as the stream. This can be extended in the future.

The primary motivation is to improve block placement (the cold attribute
affects the static branch prediction heuristics).

bebe48dbfe Add a loop rerolling pass
This adds a loop rerolling pass: the opposite of (partial) loop unrolling. The
transformation aims to take loops like this:

for (int i = 0; i < 3200; i += 5) {
  a[i]     += alpha * b[i];
  a[i + 1] += alpha * b[i + 1];
  a[i + 2] += alpha * b[i + 2];
  a[i + 3] += alpha * b[i + 3];
  a[i + 4] += alpha * b[i + 4];
}

and turn them into this:

for (int i = 0; i < 3200; ++i) {
  a[i] += alpha * b[i];
}

and loops like this:

for (int i = 0; i < 500; ++i) {
  x[3*i] = foo(0);
  x[3*i+1] = foo(0);
  x[3*i+2] = foo(0);
}

and turn them into this:

for (int i = 0; i < 1500; ++i) {
  x[i] = foo(0);
}

There are two motivations for this transformation:

  1. Code-size reduction (especially relevant, obviously, when compiling for
code size).

  2. Providing greater choice to the loop vectorizer (and generic unroller) to
choose the unrolling factor (and a better ability to vectorize). The loop
vectorizer can take vector lengths and register pressure into account when
choosing an unrolling factor, for example, and a pre-unrolled loop limits that
choice. This is especially problematic if the manual unrolling was optimized
for a machine different from the current target.

The current implementation is limited to single basic-block loops only. The
rerolling recognition should work regardless of how the loop iterations are
intermixed within the loop body (subject to dependency and side-effect
constraints), but the significant restriction is that the order of the
instructions in each iteration must be identical. This seems sufficient to
capture all current use cases.

This pass is not currently enabled by default at any optimization level.

64fa501b10 Apply the InstCombine fptrunc sqrt optimization to llvm.sqrt
InstCombine, in visitFPTrunc, applies the following optimization to sqrt calls:

  (fptrunc (sqrt (fpext x))) -> (sqrtf x)

but does not apply the same optimization to llvm.sqrt. This is a problem
because, to enable vectorization, Clang generates llvm.sqrt instead of sqrt in
fast-math mode, and because this optimization is being applied to sqrt and not
applied to llvm.sqrt, sometimes the fast-math code is slower.

This change makes InstCombine apply this optimization to llvm.sqrt as well.

This fixes the specific problem in PR17758, although the same underlying issue
(optimizations applied to libcalls are not applied to intrinsics) exists for
other optimizations in SimplifyLibCalls.

c160efc28b ArgumentPromotion: correctly transfer TBAA tags and alignments.
We used to use std::map<IndicesVector, LoadInst*> for OriginalLoads, and when we
try to promote two arguments, they will both write to OriginalLoads causing
created loads for the two arguments to have the same original load. And the same
tbaa tag and alignment will be put to the created loads for the two arguments.

The fix is to use std::map<std::pair<Argument*, IndicesVector>, LoadInst*>
for OriginalLoads, so each Argument will write to different parts of the map.

ea28aafa83 Fix illegal DAG produced by SelectionDAG::getConstant() for v2i64 type
Summary:
When getConstant() is called for an expanded vector type, it is split into
multiple scalar constants which are then combined using appropriate build_vector
and bitcast operations.

In addition to the usual big/little endian differences, the case where the
element-order of the vector does not have the same endianness as the elements
themselves is also accounted for. For example, for v4i32 on big-endian MIPS,
the byte-order of the vector is <3210,7654,BA98,FEDC>. For little-endian, it is
<0123,4567,89AB,CDEF>.
Handling this case turns out to be a nop since getConstant() returns a splatted
vector (so reversing the element order doesn't change the value)

This fixes a number of cases in MIPS MSA where calling getConstant() during
operation legalization introduces illegal types (e.g. to legalize v2i64 UNDEF
into a v2i64 BUILD_VECTOR of illegal i64 zeros). It should also handle bigger
differences between illegal and legal types such as legalizing v2i64 into v8i16.

lowerMSASplatImm() in the MIPS backend no longer needs to avoid calling
getConstant() so this function has been updated in the same patch.

For the sake of transparency, the steps I've taken since the review are:
* Added 'virtual' to isVectorEltOrderLittleEndian() as requested. This revealed
  that the MIPS tests were falsely passing because a polymorphic function was
  not actually polymorphic in the reviewed patch.
* Fixed the tests that were now failing. This involved deleting the code to
  handle the MIPS MSA element-order (which was previously doing an byte-order
  swap instead of an element-order swap). This left
  isVectorEltOrderLittleEndian() unused and it was deleted.
* Fixed build failures caused by rebasing beyond r194467-r194472. These build
  failures involved the bset, bneg, and bclr instructions added in these commits
  using lowerMSASplatImm() in a way that was no longer valid after this patch.
  Some of these were fixed by calling SelectionDAG::getConstant() instead,
  others were fixed by a new function getBuildVectorSplat() that provided the
  removed functionality of lowerMSASplatImm() in a more sensible way.

ca795b61be [mips][msa] Build all the tests in little and big endian modes and correct an incorrect test.
Summary:
This patch (correctly) breaks some MSA tests by exposing the cases when
SelectionDAG::getConstant() produces illegal types. These have been temporarily
marked XFAIL and the XFAIL flag will be removed when
SelectionDAG::getConstant() is fixed.

There are three categories of failure:
* Immediate instructions are not selected in one endian mode.
* Immediates used in ldi.[bhwd] must be different according to endianness.
  (this only affects cases where the 'wrong' ldi is used to load the correct
   bitpattern. E.g. (bitcast:v2i64 (build_vector:v4i32 ...)))
* Non-immediate instructions that rely on immediates affected by the
  previous two categories as part of their match pattern.
  For example, the bset match pattern is the vector equivalent of
  'ws | (1 << wt)'.

One test needed correcting to expect different output depending on whether big
or little endian was in use. This test was
test/CodeGen/Mips/msa/basic_operations.ll and experiences the second category
of failure shown above. The little endian version of this test is named
basic_operations_little.ll and will be merged back into basic_operations.ll in
a follow up commit now that FileCheck supports multiple check prefixes.

19a99df130 R600: Fix scheduling of instructions that use the LDS output queue
The LDS output queue is accessed via the OQAP register. The OQAP
register cannot be live across clauses, so if value is written to the
output queue, it must be retrieved before the end of the clause.
With the machine scheduler, we cannot statisfy this constraint, because
it lacks proper alias analysis and it will mark some LDS accesses as
having a chain dependency on vertex fetches. Since vertex fetches
require a new clauses, the dependency may end up spiltting OQAP uses and
defs so the end up in different clauses. See the lds-output-queue.ll
test for a more detailed explanation.

To work around this issue, we now combine the LDS read and the OQAP
copy into one instruction and expand it after register allocation.

This patch also adds some checks to the EmitClauseMarker pass, so that
it doesn't end a clause with a value still in the output queue and
removes AR.X and OQAP handling from the scheduler (AR.X uses and defs
were already being expanded post-RA, so the scheduler will never see
them).

3d47402f2e Error if we see an alias to a declaration.
In ELF and COFF an alias is just another offset in a section. There is no way
to represent an alias to something in another file.

In MachO, the spec has the N_INDR type which should allow for exactly that, but
is not currently implemented. Given that it is specified but not implemented,
we error in codegen to avoid miscompiling but don't reject aliases to
declarations in the verifier to leave the option open of implementing it.

In the past we have used alias to declarations as a way of implementing
weakref, which is why it exists in some old tests which this patch updates.

Indirect call wrapping helps MSanDR (dynamic instrumentation companion tool

This change is an optimization that skips wrapping for calls when target is
inside the current module. This relies on the linker providing symbols at the
begin and end of the module code (or code + data, does not really matter).
Gold linker provides such symbols by default. GNU (BFD) linker needs a link

131a764e0e llvm-cov: Removed StringMap holding GCOVLines.
According to the hazy gcov documentation, it appeared to be technically
possible for lines within a block to belong to different source files.
However, upon further investigation, gcov does not actually support
multiple source files for a single block.

This change removes a level of separation between blocks and lines by
replacing the StringMap of GCOVLines with a SmallVector of ints
representing line numbers. This also means that the GCOVLines class is
no longer needed.

This paves the way for supporting the "-a" option, which will output
block information.

563b29f8db SampleProfileLoader pass. Initial setup.
This adds a new scalar pass that reads a file with samples generated
by 'perf' during runtime. The samples read from the profile are
incorporated and emmited as IR metadata reflecting that profile.

The profile file is assumed to have been generated by an external
profile source. The profile information is converted into IR metadata,
which is later used by the analysis routines to estimate block
frequencies, edge weights and other related data.

External profile information files have no fixed format, each profiler
is free to define its own. This includes both the on-disk representation
of the profile and the kind of profile information stored in the file.
A common kind of profile is based on sampling (e.g., perf), which
essentially counts how many times each line of the program has been
executed during the run.

The SampleProfileLoader pass is organized as a scalar transformation.
On startup, it reads the file given in -sample-profile-file to
determine what kind of profile it contains. This file is assumed to
contain profile information for the whole application. The profile
data in the file is read and incorporated into the internal state of
the corresponding profiler.

To facilitate testing, I've organized the profilers to support two file
formats: text and native. The native format is whatever on-disk
representation the profiler wants to support, I think this will mostly
be bitcode files, but it could be anything the profiler wants to
support. To do this, every profiler must implement the
SampleProfile::loadNative() function.

The text format is mostly meant for debugging. Records are separated by
newlines, but each profiler is free to interpret records as it sees fit.
Profilers must implement the SampleProfile::loadText() function.

Finally, the pass will call SampleProfile::emitAnnotations() for each
function in the current translation unit. This function needs to
translate the loaded profile into IR metadata, which the analyzer will
later be able to use.

This patch implements the first steps towards the above design. I've
implemented a sample-based flat profiler. The format of the profile is
fairly simplistic. Each sampled function contains a list of relative
line locations (from the start of the function) together with a count
representing how many samples were collected at that line during
execution. I generate this profile using perf and a separate converter
tool.

Currently, I have only implemented a text format for these profiles. I
am interested in initial feedback to the whole approach before I send
the other parts of the implementation for review.

This patch implements:

- The SampleProfileLoader pass.
- The base ExternalProfile class with the core interface.
- A SampleProfile sub-class using the above interface. The profiler
  generates branch weight metadata on every branch instructions that
  matches the profiles.
- A text loader class to assist the implementation of
  SampleProfile::loadText().
- Basic unit tests for the pass.

Additionally, the patch uses profile information to compute branch
weights based on instruction samples.

This patch converts instruction samples into branch weights. It
does a fairly simplistic conversion:

Given a multi-way branch instruction, it calculates the weight of
each branch based on the maximum sample count gathered from each
target basic block.

Note that this assignment of branch weights is somewhat lossy and can be
misleading. If a basic block has more than one incoming branch, all the
incoming branches will get the same weight. In reality, it may be that
only one of them is the most heavily taken branch.

I will adjust this assignment in subsequent patches.

c7e77f91fe SelectionDAG: Teach the legalizer to split SETCC if VSELECT needs splitting too.
This patch reapplies r193676 with an additional fix for the Hexagon backend. The
SystemZ backend has already been fixed by r194148.

The Type Legalizer recognizes that VSELECT needs to be split, because the type
is to wide for the given target. The same does not always apply to SETCC,
because less space is required to encode the result of a comparison. As a result
VSELECT is split and SETCC is unrolled into scalar comparisons.

This commit fixes the issue by checking for VSELECT-SETCC patterns in the DAG
Combiner. If a matching pattern is found, then the result mask of SETCC is
promoted to the expected vector mask type for the given target. Now the type
legalizer will split both VSELECT and SETCC.

This allows the following X86 DAG Combine code to sucessfully detect the MIN/MAX
pattern. This fixes PR16695, PR17002, and <rdar://problem/14594431>.

f3bd3ea3fe FoldBranchToCommonDest merges branches into a single branch with or/and of the condition. It has a heuristics for estimating when some of the dependencies are processed by out-of-order processors. This patch adds another rule to the heuristics that says that if the "BonusInstruction" that we speculatively execute is used by the condition of the second branch then it is okay to hoist it. This change exposes more opportunities for other passes to transform the code. It does not matter that much that we if-convert the code because the selectiondag builder splits or/and branches into multiple branches when profitable.

0cbecb56fb Revert "Added basic unit test for llvm-cov."
This reverts commit r194451.

Not sure why the tests are failing on the buildbot. They run fine on my
local machine. Could it possibly be because of the endianness of the
architectures? The GCNO and GCDA files are little-endian encoded, and
llvm-cov expects it to remain that way. Is this a safe assumption?

86245071b5 R600/SI: Change formatting of printed registers.
Print the range of registers used with a single letter prefix.
This better matches what the shader compiler produces and
is overall less obnoxious than concatenating all of the
subregister names together.

Instead of SGPR0, it will print s0. Instead of SGPR0_SGPR1,
it will print s[0:1] and so on.

There doesn't appear to be a straightforward way
to get the actual register info in the InstPrinter,
so this parses the generated name to print with the
new syntax.

The required test changes are pretty nasty, and register
matching regexes are now worse. Since there isn't a way to
add to a variable in FileCheck, some of the tests now don't
check the exact number of registers used, but I don't think that
will be a real problem.

6c7a7c6474 Fix PR17952.
The symptom is that an assertion is triggered. The assertion was added by
me to detect the situation when value is propagated from dead blocks.
(We can certainly get rid of assertion; it is safe to do so, because propagating
 value from dead block to alive join node is certainly ok.)

  The root cause of this bug is : edge-splitting is conducted on the fly,
the edge being split could be a dead edge, therefore the block that
split the critial edge needs to be flagged "dead" as well.

  There are 3 ways to fix this bug:
  1) Get rid of the assertion as I mentioned eariler
  2) When an dead edge is split, flag the inserted block "dead".
  3) proactively split the critical edges connecting dead and live blocks when
     new dead blocks are revealed.

  This fix go for 3) with additional 2 LOC.

  Testing case was added by Rafael the other day.

f14beced2b Add PPC option for full register names in asm
On non-Darwin PPC systems, we currently strip off the register name prefix
prior to instruction printing. So instead of something like this:

  mr r3, r4

we print this:

  mr 3, 4

The first form is the default on Darwin, and is understood by binutils, but not
yet understood by our integrated assembler. Once our integrated-as understands
full register names as well, this temporary option will be replaced by tying
this functionality to the verbose-asm option. The numeric-only form is
compatible with legacy assemblers and tools, and is also gcc's default on most
PPC systems. On the other hand, it is harder to read, and there are some
analysis tools that expect full register names.

This patch moves the jump address materialization inside the noop slide. This
enables patching of the materialization itself or its complete removal. This
patch also adds the ability to define scratch registers that can be used safely
by the code called from the patchpoint intrinsic. At least one scratch register
is required, because that one is used for the materialization of the jump
address. This patch depends on D2009.

323ac85d6a ARM: fold prologue/epilogue sp updates into push/pop for code size
ARM prologues usually look like:
    push {r7, lr}
    sub sp, sp, #4

If code size is extremely important, this can be optimised to the single
instruction:
    push {r6, r7, lr}

where we don't actually care about the contents of r6, but pushing it subtracts
4 from sp as a side effect.

This should implement such a conversion, predicated on the "minsize" function
attribute (-Oz) since I've yet to find any code it actually makes faster.

Summary:
Consider a GEP of:
i8* getelementptr ({ [2 x i8], i32, i8, [3 x i8] }* @main.c, i32 0, i32 0, i64 0)

If we proceeded to GEP the aforementioned object by 8, would form a GEP of:
i8* getelementptr ({ [2 x i8], i32, i8, [3 x i8] }* @main.c, i32 0, i32 0, i64 8)

Note that we would go through the first array member, causing an
out-of-bounds accesses. This is problematic because we might get fooled
if we are trying to evaluate loads using this GEP, for example, based
off of an object with a constant initializer where the array is zero.

This fixes PR17732.

10bb82e54f Rewrite SCEV's backedge taken count computation.
Patch by Michele Scandale!

Rewrite of the functions used to compute the backedge taken count of a
loop on LT and GT comparisons.

I decided to split the handling of LT and GT cases becasue the trick
"a > b == -a < -b" in some cases prevents the trip count computation
due to the multiplication by -1 on the two operands of the
comparison. This issue comes from the conservative computation of
value range of SCEVs: taking the negative SCEV of an expression that
have a small positive range (e.g. [0,31]), we would have a SCEV with a
fullset as value range.

Indeed, in the new rewritten function I tried to better handle the
maximum backedge taken count computation when MAX/MIN expression are
used to handle the cases where no entry guard is found.

Some test have been modified in order to check the new value correctly
(I manually check them and reasoning on possible overflow the new
values seem correct).

I finally added a new test case related to the multiplication by -1
issue on GT comparisons.

dc8224def3 Slightly change the way stackmap and patchpoint intrinsics are lowered.
MorphNodeTo is not safe to call during DAG building. It eagerly
deletes dependent DAG nodes which invalidates the NodeMap. We could
expose a safe interface for morphing nodes, but I don't think it's
worth it. Just create a new MachineNode and replaceAllUsesWith.

My understaning of the SD design has been that we want to support
early target opcode selection. That isn't very well supported, but
generally works. It seems reasonable to rely on this feature even if
it isn't widely used.

f23af8bfd8 [objc-arc] Convert the one directional retain/release relation assert to a conditional check + fail.
Due to the previously added overflow checks, we can have a retain/release
relation that is one directional. This occurs specifically when we run into an
additive overflow causing us to drop state in only one direction. If that
occurs, we should bail and not optimize that retain/release instead of
asserting.

Apologies for the size of the testcase. It is necessary to cause the additive
cfg overflow to trigger.

c0e9800d45 Fix r194019 as requested by Eric Christopher.
Submit the basic port of the rest of ARM constant islands code to Mips.
Two test cases are added which reflect the next level of functionality:
constants getting moved to water areas that are out of range from the
initial placement at the end of the function and basic blocks being split to
create water when none exists that can be used. There is a bunch of this
code that is not complete and has been marked with IN_PROGRESS. I will
finish cleaning this all up during the next week or two and submit the
rest of the test cases. I have elminated some code for dealing with
inline assembly because to me it unecessarily complicates things and
some of the newer features of llvm like function attributies and builtin
assembler give me better tools to solve the alignment issues created
there. Also, for Mips16 I even have the option of not doing constant
islands in the present of inline assembler if I chose. When everything
has been completed I will summarize the port and notify people that
are knowledgable regarding the ARM Constant Islands code so they can
review it in it's entirety if they wish.

627ef0cf5e AArch64: use default asm operand printing when modifier inapplicable
If an inline assembly operand has multiple constraints (e.g. "Ir" for immediate
or register) and an operand modifier (E.g. "w" for "print register as wN") then
we need to decide behaviour when the modifier doesn't apply to the constraint.

Previousely produced some combination of an assertion failure and a fatal
error. GCC's behaviour appears to be to ignore the modifier and print the
operand in the default way. This patch should implement that.

96bf70c13b DebugInfo: regenerate test case from Clang to adjust for fixes/improvements
I hit some problems with future work due to the member subprogram of
'a_b's type having a subprogram (an implicit default ctor, !52 in the
pre-commit source) with no name. Clang now generates a name for such a
function but in this case doesn't even emit debug info for it as it is
unused (Clang never emits the body of the ctor, instead just emitting
memset if needed).

f4775827d0 LoopVectorizer: Perform redundancy elimination on induction variables
When the loop vectorizer was part of the SCC inliner pass manager gvn would
run after the loop vectorizer followed by instcombine. This way redundancy
(multiple uses) were removed and instcombine could perform scalarization on the
induction variables. Having moved the loop vectorizer to later we no longer run
any form of redundancy elimination before we perform instcombine. This caused
vectorized induction variables to survive that did not before.

On a recent iMac this helps linpack back from 6000Mflops to 7000Mflops.

This should also help lpbench and paq8p.

I ran a Release (without Asserts) build over the test-suite and did not see any
negative impact on compile time.

2e110c3fa6 DebugInfo: Make pubnames header printing similar to unit header printing
In a failed attempt to allow the gnu-public-names.ll test case to not
hardcode the size of the unit that the pubnames section referred to I've
at least managed to have unit headers and pubnames headers print out in
a similar style.

This failed to achieve the desired goal because the header in a unit
specifies the length of the unit without the length element of the
header whereas the length in the pubnames includes this element, so the
numbers are off by 4 bytes. I don't know of any arithmetic powers in
FileCheck so the test case can't simply say "CU_LENGTH + 4".
