4eb2d228e9 Fix PR19136: [ARM] Fix Folding SP Update into vpush/vpop
Sicne MBB->computeRegisterLivenes() returns Dead for sub regs like s0,
d0 is used in vpop instead of updating sp, which causes s0 dead before
its use.

This patch checks the liveness of each subreg to make sure the reg is
actually dead.

ebf9f0c6cb [MIPS] Add cpu octeon and some instructions
The Octeon cpu from Cavium Networks is mips64r2 based and has an extended
instruction set. In order to utilize this with LLVM, a new cpu feature "octeon"
and a subtarget feature "cnmips" is added. A small set of new instructions
(baddu, dmul, pop, dpop, seq, sne) is also added. LLVM generates dmul, pop and
dpop instructions with option -mcpu=octeon or -mattr=+cnmips.

21354ec60d Expose "noduplicate" attribute as a property for intrinsics.
The "noduplicate" function attribute exists to prevent certain optimizations
from duplicating calls to the function. This is important on platforms where
certain function call duplications are unsafe (for example execution barriers
for CUDA and OpenCL).

This patch makes it possible to specify intrinsics as "noduplicate" and
translates that to the appropriate function attribute.

523f800e90 X86 memcpy lowering: use "rep movs" even when esi is used as base pointer
For functions where esi is used as base pointer, we would previously fall back
from lowering memcpy with "rep movs" because that clobbers esi.

With this patch, we just store esi in another physical register, and restore
it afterwards. This adds a little bit of register preassure, but the more
efficient memcpy should be worth it.

d4585b941a Fix PR19144: Incorrect offset generated for int-to-fp conversion at -O0.
When converting a signed 32-bit integer to double-precision floating point on
hardware without a lfiwax instruction, we have to instead use a lfd followed
by fcfid. We were erroneously offsetting the address by 4 bytes in
preparation for either a lfiwax or lfiwzx when generating the lfd. This fixes
that silly error.

This was not caught in the test suite since the conversion tests were run with
-mcpu=pwr7, which implies availability of lfiwax. I've added another test
case for older hardware that checks the code we expect in the absence of
lfiwax and other flavors of fcfid. There are fewer tests in this test case
because we punt to DAG selection in more cases on older hardware. (We must
generate complex fiddly sequences in those cases, and there is marginal
benefit in duplicating that logic in fast-isel.)

8c8fe42a0d [VectorLegalizer/X86] Don't unvectorize fp_to_uint for v8f32->v8i16
Rather than LegalizeAction::Expand, this needs LegalizeAction::Promote to get
promoted to fp_to_sint v8f32->v8i32. This is a legal operation on AVX.

For that to work properly, we also need to teach the legalizer about the
specific promotion required here. The default vector promotion uses
bitcasting to a vector type of the same total size. We want to promote the
vector element type, effectively widening the operation and then truncating
the result. This is analogous to the current logic of how int_to_fp is
promoted.

The change also factors out some code from the int_to_fp promotion code to
ValueType::widenIntegerVectorElementType. This is now shared between
int_to_fp and fp_to_int.

There is no longer need for the custom lowering of fp_to_sint f32->v8i16 in
X86. It can now go through the new target-independent fp_to_*int promotion
logic.

I also checked that no other target uses Promote for these ops yet, so there
shouldn't be any unexpected change in behavior.

0951eecae4 [ppc64] Avoid copy relocs in named rodata sections
Commit r181723 introduced code to avoid placing initialized variables
needing relocations into the .rodata section, which avoid copy relocs
that do not work as expected on ppc64 function references.

The same treatment is also needed for *named* .rodata.XXX sections.
This patch changes PPC64LinuxTargetObjectFile::SelectSectionForGlobal
to modify "Kind" *before* calling the default SelectSectionForGlobal
routine, instead of first calling the default routine and then just
checking for the (main) .rodata section afterwards.

1f21e0dd0d Remove the linker_private and linker_private_weak linkages.
These linkages were introduced some time ago, but it was never very
clear what exactly their semantics were or what they should be used
for. Some investigation found these uses:

* utf-16 strings in clang.
* non-unnamed_addr strings produced by the sanitizers.

It turns out they were just working around a more fundamental problem.
For some sections a MachO linker needs a symbol in order to split the
section into atoms, and llvm had no idea that was the case. I fixed
that in r201700 and it is now safe to use the private linkage. When
the object ends up in a section that requires symbols, llvm will use a
'l' prefix instead of a 'L' prefix and things just work.

With that, these linkages were already dead, but there was a potential
future user in the objc metadata information. I am still looking at
CGObjcMac.cpp, but at this point I am convinced that linker_private
and linker_private_weak are not what they need.

The objc uses are currently split in

* Regular symbols (no '\01' prefix). LLVM already directly provides
whatever semantics they need.
* Uses of a private name (start with "\01L" or "\01l") and private
linkage. We can drop the "\01L" and "\01l" prefixes as soon as llvm
agrees with clang on L being ok or not for a given section. I have two
patches in code review for this.
* Uses of private name and weak linkage.

The last case is the one that one could think would fit one of these
linkages. That is not the case. The semantics are

* the linker will merge these symbol by *name*.
* the linker will hide them in the final DSO.

Given that the merging is done by name, any of the private (or
internal) linkages would be a bad match. They allow llvm to rename the
symbols, and that is really not what we want. From the llvm point of
view, these objects should really be (linkonce|weak)(_odr)?.

For now, just keeping the "\01l" prefix is probably the best for these
symbols. If we one day want to have a more direct support in llvm,
IMHO what we should add is not a linkage, it is just a hidden_symbol
attribute. It would be applicable to multiple linkages. For example,
on weak it would produce the current behavior we have for objc
metadata. On internal, it would be equivalent to private (and we
should then remove private).

ab849adec4 [PowerPC] Initial support for the VSX instruction set
VSX is an ISA extension supported on the POWER7 and later cores that enhances
floating-point vector and scalar capabilities. Among other things, this adds
<2 x double> support and generally helps to reduce register pressure.

The interesting part of this ISA feature is the register configuration: there
are 64 new 128-bit vector registers, the 32 of which are super-registers of the
existing 32 scalar floating-point registers, and the second 32 of which overlap
with the 32 Altivec vector registers. This makes things like vector insertion
and extraction tricky: this can be free but only if we force a restriction to
the right register subclass when needed. A new "minipass" PPCVSXCopy takes care
of this (although it could do a more-optimal job of it; see the comment about
unnecessary copies below).

Please note that, currently, VSX is not enabled by default when targeting
anything because it is not yet ready for that. The assembler and disassembler
are fully implemented and tested. However:

 - CodeGen support causes miscompiles; test-suite runtime failures:

 - The lowering currently falls back to using Altivec instructions far more
than it should. Worse, there are some things that are scalarized through the
   stack that shouldn't be.

 - A lot of unnecessary copies make it past the optimizers, and this needs to
   be fixed.

 - Many more regression tests are needed.

Normally, I'd fix these things prior to committing, but there are some
students and other contributors who would like to work this, and so it makes
sense to move this development process upstream where it can be subject to the
regular code-review procedures.

38048cdb1c Reject alias to undefined symbols in the verifier.
On ELF and COFF an alias is just another name for a position in the file.
There is no way to refer to a position in another file, so an alias to
undefined is meaningless.

MachO currently doesn't support aliases. The spec has a N_INDR, which when
implemented will have a different set of restrictions. Adding support for
it shouldn't be harder than any other IR extension.

For now, having the IR represent what is actually possible with current
tools makes it easier to fix the design of GlobalAlias.

fe6bd52bf2 [mips] BSEL's and BINS[RL] operands are reversed compared to the vselect node used in the pattern.
Summary:
Correct the match patterns and the lowerings that made the CodeGen tests pass despite the mistakes.

The original testcase that discovered the problem was SingleSource/UnitTests/SignlessType/factor.c in test-suite.
During review, we also found that some of the existing CodeGen tests were incorrect and fixed them:
* bitwise.ll: In bsel_v16i8 the IfSet/IfClear were reversed because bsel and bmnz have different operand orders and the test didn't correctly account for this. bmnz goes 'IfClear, IfSet, CondMask', while bsel goes 'CondMask, IfClear, IfSet'.
* vec.ll: In the cases where a bsel is emitted as a bmnz (they are the same operation with a different input tied to the result) the operands were in the wrong order.
* compare.ll and compare_float.ll: The bsel operand order was correct for a greater-than comparison, but a greater-than comparison instruction doesn't exist. Lowering this operation inverts the condition so the IfSet/IfClear need to be swapped to match.

The differences between BSEL, BMNZ, and BMZ and how they map to/from vselect are rather confusing. I've therefore added a note to MSA.txt to explain this in a single place in addition to the comments that explain each case.

d4517fa24d ARM: correct Dwarf output for non-contiguous VFP saves.
When the list of VFP registers to be saved was non-contiguous (so multiple
vpush/vpop instructions were needed) these were being ordered oddly, as in:
    vpush {d8, d9}
    vpush {d11}

This led to the layout in memory being [d11, d8, d9] which is ugly and doesn't
match the CFI_INSTRUCTIONs we're generating either (so Dwarf info would be
broken).

This switches the order of vpush/vpop (in both prologue and epilogue,
obviously) so that the Dwarf locations are correct again.

39a09d2b7c IR: Change inalloca's grammar a bit
The grammar for LLVM IR is not well specified in any document but seems
to obey the following rules:

 - Attributes which have parenthesized arguments are never preceded by
commas. This form of attribute is the only one which ever has
optional arguments. However, not all of these attributes support
optional arguments: 'thread_local' supports an optional argument but
'addrspace' does not. Interestingly, 'addrspace' is documented as
being a "qualifier". What constitutes a qualifier? I cannot find a
   definition.

 - Some attributes use a space between the keyword and the value.
Examples of this form are 'align' and 'section'. These are always
   preceded by a comma.

 - Otherwise, the attribute has no argument. These attributes do not
   have a preceding comma.

Sometimes an attribute goes before the instruction, between the
instruction and it's type, or after it's type. 'atomicrmw' has
'volatile' between the instruction and the type while 'call' has 'tail'
preceding the instruction.

With all this in mind, it seems most consistent for 'inalloca' on an
'inalloca' instruction to occur before between the instruction and the
type. Unlike the current formulation, there would be no preceding
comma. The combination 'alloca inalloca' doesn't look particularly
appetizing, perhaps a better spelling of 'inalloca' is down the road.

7d7d99622f Replace PROLOG_LABEL with a new CFI_INSTRUCTION.
The old system was fairly convoluted:
* A temporary label was created.
* A single PROLOG_LABEL was created with it.
* A few MCCFIInstructions were created with the same label.

The semantics were that the cfi instructions were mapped to the PROLOG_LABEL
via the temporary label. The output position was that of the PROLOG_LABEL.
The temporary label itself was used only for doing the mapping.

The new CFI_INSTRUCTION has a 1:1 mapping to MCCFIInstructions and points to
one by holding an index into the CFI instructions of this function.

I did consider removing MMI.getFrameInstructions completelly and having
CFI_INSTRUCTION own a MCCFIInstruction, but MCCFIInstructions have non
trivial constructors and destructors and are somewhat big, so the this setup
is probably better.

The net result is that we don't create temporary labels that are never used.

e54158504f [X86] Teach the DAGCombiner how to fold a OR of two shufflevector nodes.
This patch teaches the DAGCombiner how to fold a binary OR between two
shufflevector into a single shuffle vector when possible.

The rules are:
  1. fold (or (shuf A, V_0, MA), (shuf B, V_0, MB)) -> (shuf A, B, Mask1)
  2. fold (or (shuf A, V_0, MA), (shuf B, V_0, MB)) -> (shuf B, A, Mask2)

The DAGCombiner can take advantage of the fact that OR is commutative and
compute two possible shuffle masks (Mask1 and Mask2) for the resulting
shuffle node.

Before folding a dag according to either rule 1 or 2, DAGCombiner verifies
that the resulting shuffle mask is legal for the target.
DAGCombiner would firstly try to fold according to 1.; If not possible
then it will try to fold according to 2.
If both Mask1 and Mask2 are illegal then we conservatively don't fold
the OR instruction.

This patch lays the ground work to annotate each AArch64 instruction

Verification was done by setting the pre-RA scheduler to linearize to

zero-extend the i1 value (otherwise an invalid CRBIT -> GPR copy will be
generated).

Patchpoints already did this. Doing it for stackmaps is a convenience
for the runtime in the event that it needs to scratch register to
patch or perform a runtime call thunk.

Unlike patchpoints, we just assume the AnyRegCC calling
convention. This is the only language and target independent calling
convention specific to stackmaps so makes sense. Although the calling

In X86SelectionDagInfo::EmitTargetCodeForMemcpy we check with MachineFrameInfo

The problem is that MachineFrameInfo wouldn't know about dynamic allocas or

encountered them.

This patch fixes the problem by checking for such things when building the
FunctionLoweringInfo.

This patch lays the ground work to annotate each AArch64 instruction
(no NEON yet) with a list of SchedReadWrite types. The patch also
provides the Cortex-A53 processor resources, maps those the the default
SchedReadWrites, and provides basic latency. NEON support will be added
in a subsequent patch with proper forwarding logic.

Verification was done by setting the pre-RA scheduler to linearize to
better gauge the effect of the MIScheduler. Even without modeling the
forward logic, the results show a modest improvement for Cortex-A53.

5a49125fec Add a PPC inline asm constraint type for single CR bits
Now that the PowerPC backend can track individual CR bits as first-class
registers, we should also have a way of allocating them for inline asm
statements. Because these registers are only one bit, if an output variable is
implicitly cast to a larger integer size, we'll get an any_extend to that
larger type (this is part of the existing target-independent logic). As a
result, regardless of the size of the output type, only the first bit is
meaningful.

The constraint identifier "wc" has been chosen for this purpose. Although gcc
does not currently support allocating individual CR bits, this identifier
choice has been coordinated with the gcc PowerPC team, and will be marked as
reserved for this purpose in the gcc constraints.md file.

92b38a9d1c Remove extra truncs/exts around i32 bit operations on PPC64
This generalizes the code to eliminate extra truncs/exts around i1 bit
operations to also do the same on PPC64 for i32 bit operations. This eliminates
a fairly prevalent code wart:

int foo(int a) {
  return a == 5 ? 7 : 8;
}

On PPC64, because of the extension implied by the ABI, this would generate:

	cmplwi 0, 3, 5
	li 12, 8
	li 4, 7
	isel 3, 4, 12, 2
	rldicl 3, 3, 0, 32
	blr

where the 'rldicl 3, 3, 0, 32', the extension, is completely unnecessary. At
least for the single-BB case (which is all that the DAG combine mechanism can
handle), this unnecessary extension is no longer generated.

36e1825e68 Add CR-bit tracking to the PowerPC backend for i1 values
This change enables tracking i1 values in the PowerPC backend using the
condition register bits. These bits can be treated on PowerPC as separate
registers; individual bit operations (and, or, xor, etc.) are supported.
Tracking booleans in CR bits has several advantages:

 - Reduction in register pressure (because we no longer need GPRs to store
   boolean values).

 - Logical operations on booleans can be handled more efficiently; we used to
have to move all results from comparisons into GPRs, perform promoted
logical operations in GPRs, and then move the result back into condition
register bits to be used by conditional branches. This can be very
inefficient, because the throughput of these CR <-> GPR moves have high
latency and low throughput (especially when other associated instructions
   are accounted for).

 - On the POWER7 and similar cores, we can increase total throughput by using
the CR bits. CR bit operations have a dedicated functional unit.

Most of this is more-or-less mechanical: Adjustments were needed in the
calling-convention code, support was added for spilling/restoring individual
condition-register bits, and conditional branch instruction definitions taking
specific CR bits were added (plus patterns and code for generating bit-level
operations).

This is enabled by default when running at -O2 and higher. For -O0 and -O1,
where the ability to debug is more important, this feature is disabled by
default. Individual CR bits do not have assigned DWARF register numbers,
and storing values in CR bits makes them invisible to the debugger.

It is critical, however, that we don't move i1 values that have been promoted
to larger values (such as those passed as function arguments) into bit
registers only to quickly turn around and move the values back into GPRs (such
as happens when values are returned by functions). A pair of target-specific
DAG combines are added to remove the trunc/extends in:
  trunc(binary-ops(binary-ops(zext(x), zext(y)), ...)
and:
  zext(binary-ops(binary-ops(trunc(x), trunc(y)), ...)
In short, we only want to use CR bits where some of the i1 values come from
comparisons or are used by conditional branches or selects. To put it another
way, if we can do the entire i1 computation in GPRs, then we probably should
(on the POWER7, the GPR-operation throughput is higher, and for all cores, the
CR <-> GPR moves are expensive).

POWER7 test-suite performance results (from 10 runs in each configuration):

+ // If the comparison is against a constant we can turn this into a
+ // setule. With psubus, setule does not require a swap. This is
+ // beneficial because the constant in the register is no longer
+ // destructed as the destination so it can be hoisted out of a loop.

I also enable lowering via psubus in a few other cases where it's clearly
beneficial: setule and setuge if minu/maxu cannot be used.

aab87fe0ec Store a DataLayout in Module.
Now that DataLayout is not a pass, store one in Module.

Since the C API expects to be able to get a char* to the datalayout description,
we have to keep a std::string somewhere. This patch keeps it in Module and also
uses it to represent modules without a DataLayout.

Once DataLayout is mandatory, we should probably move the string to DataLayout
itself since it won't be necessary anymore to represent the special case of a
module without a DataLayout.

6dc9f732ce [XCore] Prefer to word align functions.
The behaviour of the XCore's instruction buffer means that the performance
of the same code sequence can differ depending on whether it starts at a 4
byte aligned address or not. Since we don't model the instruction buffer
in the backend we have no way of knowing for sure if it is beneficial to
word align a specific function. However, in the absence of precise
modelling, it is better on balance to word align functions because:

* It makes a fetch-nop while executing the prologue slightly less likely.
* If we don't word align functions then a small perturbation in one
function can have a dramatic knock on effect. If the size of the function
changes it might change the alignment and therefore the performance of
all the functions that happen to follow it in the binary. This butterfly
effect makes it harder to reason about and measure the performance of
  code.

737c9f6005 Add back r201608, r201622, r201624 and r201625
r201608 made llvm corretly handle private globals with MachO. r201622 fixed
a bug in it and r201624 and r201625 were changes for using private linkage,
assuming that llvm would do the right thing.

They all got reverted because r201608 introduced a crash in LTO. This patch
includes a fix for that. The issue was that TargetLoweringObjectFile now has
to be initialized before we can mangle names of private globals. This is
trivially true during the normal codegen pipeline (the asm printer does it),
but LTO has to do it manually.

6880f0e19f Fix PR18743.
The IR
@foo = private constant i32 42

is valid, but before this patch we would produce an invalid MachO from it. It
was invalid because it would use an L label in a section where the liker needs
the labels in order to atomize it.

One way of fixing it would be to just reject this IR in the backend, but that
would not be very front end friendly.

What this patch does is use an 'l' prefix in sections that we know the linker
requires symbols for atomizing them. This allows frontends to just use
private and not worry about which sections they go to or how the linker handles
them.

One small issue with this strategy is that now a symbol name depends on the
section, which is not available before codegen. This is not a problem in
practice. The reason is that it only happens with private linkage, which will
be ignored by the non codegen users (llvm-nm and llvm-ar).

09d1d540c8 Use 16 byte stack alignment for NaCl on ARM
NaCl's ARM ABI uses 16 byte stack alignment, so set that in
ARMSubtarget.cpp.

Using 16 byte alignment exposes an issue in code generation in which a
varargs function leaves a 4 byte gap between the values of r1-r3 saved
to the stack and the following arguments that were passed on the
stack. (Previously, this code only needed to support 4 byte and 8
byte alignment.)

With this issue, llc generated:

varargs_func:

        push    {lr}
        sub sp, sp, #12

        add r1, sp, #16

but in this case we don't know at that time that we need to generate the stubs. This must all be handled later in code generation
and we have moved this functionality to MipsAsmPrinter. When linked as C (gcc or clang) the proper stubs are linked in from libc.

2) Set up the infrastructure to handle 90% of what is in the Mips16HardFloat pass in this new area of MipsAsmPrinter. This is a more
logical place to handle this and we have known for some time that we needed to move the code later and not implement it using
inline asm as we do now but it was not clear exactly where to do this and what mechanism should be used. Now it's clear to us
how to do this and this patch contains the infrastructure to move most of this to MipsAsmPrinter but the actual moving will be done
in a follow on patch. The same infrastructure is used to fix this current bug as described in #1. This change was requested by the list
during the original putback of the Mips16HardFloat pass but was not practical for us do at that time.

38c6b58eec Re-commit: Demote EmitRawText call in AsmPrinter::EmitInlineAsm() and remove hasRawTextSupport() call
Summary:
AsmPrinter::EmitInlineAsm() will no longer use the EmitRawText() call for
targets with mature MC support. Such targets will always parse the inline
assembly (even when emitting assembly). Targets without mature MC support
continue to use EmitRawText() for assembly output.

The hasRawTextSupport() check in AsmPrinter::EmitInlineAsm() has been replaced
with MCAsmInfo::UseIntegratedAs which when true, causes the integrated assembler
to parse inline assembly (even when emitting assembly output). UseIntegratedAs
is set to true for targets that consider any failure to parse valid assembly
to be a bug. Target specific subclasses generally enable the integrated
assembler in their constructor. The default value can be overridden with
-no-integrated-as.

All tests that rely on inline assembly supporting invalid assembly (for example,
those that use mnemonics such as 'foo' or 'hello world') have been updated to
disable the integrated assembler.

Changes since review (and last commit attempt):
- Fixed test failures that were missed due to configuration of local build.
(fixes crash.ll and a couple others).
- Fixed tests that happened to pass because the local build was on X86
  (should fix 2007-12-17-InvokeAsm.ll)
- mature-mc-support.ll's should no longer require all targets to be compiled.
(should fix ARM and PPC buildbots)
- Object output (-filetype=obj and similar) now forces the integrated assembler
to be enabled regardless of default setting or -no-integrated-as.
  (should fix SystemZ buildbots)

8887371782 [X86] Teach the backend how to lower vector shift left into multiply rather than scalarizing it.
Instead of expanding a packed shift into a sequence of scalar shifts,
the backend now tries (when possible) to convert the vector shift into a
vector multiply.

Before this change, a shift of a MVT::v8i16 vector by a
build_vector of constants was always scalarized into a long sequence of "vector
extracts + scalar shifts + vector insert".
With this change, if there is SSE2 support, we emit a single vector multiply.

This change also affects SSE4.1, AVX, AVX2 shifts:
 - A shift of a MVT::v4i32 vector by a build_vector of non uniform constants
is now lowered when possible into a single SSE4.1 vector multiply.
 - Packed v16i16 shift left by constant build_vector are now expanded when
possible into a single AVX2 vpmullw.
This change also improves the lowering of AVX512f vector shifts.

Added test CodeGen/X86/vec_shift6.ll with some code examples that are affected
by this change.

9f5baa3c7e Tweak ARM fastcc by adopting these two AAPCS rules:
* CPRCs may be allocated to co-processor registers or the stack – they may never be allocated to core registers
* When a CPRC is allocated to the stack, all other VFP registers should be marked as unavailable

The difference is only noticeable in rare cases where there are a large number of floating point arguments (e.g.
7 doubles + additional float, double arguments). Although it's probably still better to avoid vmov as it can cause
stalls in some older ARM cores. The other, more subtle benefit, is to minimize difference between the various
calling conventions.

According to the AAPCS, when a CPRC is allocated to the stack, all other
VFP registers should be marked as unavailable.

I have also modified the rules for allocating non-CPRCs to the stack, to make
it more explicit that all GPRs must be made unavailable. I cannot think of a
case where the old version would produce incorrect answers, so there is no test
for this.

30c0f72237 [CodeGenPrepare] Move away sign extensions that get in the way of addressing

Basically the idea is to transform code like this:
%idx = add nsw i32 %a, 1
%sextidx = sext i32 %idx to i64
%gep = gep i8* %myArray, i64 %sextidx
load i8* %gep

Into:
%sexta = sext i32 %a to i64
%idx = add nsw i64 %sexta, 1
%gep = gep i8* %myArray, i64 %idx
load i8* %gep

That way the computation can be folded into the addressing mode.

This transformation is done as part of the addressing mode matcher.
If the matching fails (not profitable, addressing mode not legal, etc.), the
matcher will revert the related promotions.

1a10a51431 [RegAlloc] Add a last chance recoloring mechanism when everything else failed to
find a register.

The idea is to choose a color for the variable that cannot be allocated and
recolor its interferences around. Unlike the current register allocation scheme,
it is allowed to change the color of an already assigned (but maybe not
splittable or spillable) live interval while propagating this change to its
neighbors.
In other word, there are two things that may help finding an available color:
- Already assigned variables (RS_Done) can be recolored to different color.
- The recoloring allows to catch solutions that needs to touch more that just
the neighbors of the current allocated variable.

E.g.,
vA can use {R1, R2    }
vB can use {    R2, R3}
vC can use {R1        }
Where vA, vB, and vC cannot be split anymore (they are reloads for instance) and
they all interfere.

vA is assigned R1
vB is assigned R2
vC tries to evict vA but vA is already done.
=> Regular register allocation heuristic fails.

Last chance recoloring kicks in:
vC does as if vA was evicted => vC uses R1.
vC is marked as fixed.
vA needs to find a color.
None are available.
vA cannot evict vC: vC is a fixed virtual register now.
vA does as if vB was evicted => vA uses R2.
vB needs to find a color.
R3 is available.
Recoloring => vC = R1, vA = R2, vB = R3.

b92cca2228 Fix PR18345: ldr= pseudo instruction produces incorrect code when using in inline assembly
This patch fixes the ldr-pseudo implementation to work when used in
inline assembly. The fix is to move arm assembler constant pools
from the ARMAsmParser class to the ARMTargetStreamer class.

Previously we kept the assembler generated constant pools in the
ARMAsmParser object. This does not work for inline assembly because
a new parser object is created for each blob of inline assembly.
This patch moves the constant pools to the ARMTargetStreamer class
so that the constant pool will remain alive for the entire code
generation process.

An ARMTargetStreamer class is now required for the arm backend.
There was no existing implementation for MachO, only Asm and ELF.
Instead of creating an empty MachO subclass, we decided to make the
ARMTargetStreamer a non-abstract class and provide default
(llvm_unreachable) implementations for the non constant-pool related
methods.

07786c2f09 AArch64 & ARM: refactor crypto intrinsics to take scalars
Some of the SHA instructions take a scalar i32 as one argument (largely because
they work on 160-bit hash fragments). This wasn't reflected in the IR
previously, with ARM and AArch64 choosing different types (<4 x i32> and <1 x

This makes all the affected intrinsics take a uniform "i32", allowing them to
become non-polymorphic at the same time.

implement this for __thiscall by putting sret parameters on the stack,

Using a special calling convention allows frontends to keep the sret
parameter first, which avoids breaking lots of assumptions in LLVM and

The vinsertf128 intrinsic is converted into an insert_subvector node
in SelectionDAGBuilder.cpp.

Using AVX, without the patch this generates two vinsertf128 instructions:

vinsertf128 $1, %xmm1, %ymm0, %ymm0
vinsertf128 $0, %xmm2, %ymm0, %ymm0

With the patch this is optimized into:

vinsertf128 $1, %xmm1, %ymm2, %ymm0

Patch by Robert Lougher.

21f09088d3 PGO branch weight: update edge weights in SelectionDAGBuilder.
When converting from "or + br" to two branches, or converting from
"and + br" to two branches, we correctly update the edge weights of
the two branches.

The previous attempt at r200431 was reverted at r200434 because of
two testing case failures. I modified my patch a little, but forgot
to re-run "make check-all".

Testing case CodeGen/ARM/lsr-unfolded-offset.ll is updated because of
the patch's impact on branch probability which causes changes in
spill placement.

3fca788967 Enable EHABI by default
After all hard work to implement the EHABI and with the test-suite
passing, it's time to turn it on by default and allow users to
disable it as a work-around while we fix the eventual bugs that show
up.

This commit also remove the -arm-enable-ehabi-descriptors, since we
want the tables to be printed every time the EHABI is turned on
for non-Darwin ARM targets.

Although MCJIT EHABI is not working yet (needs linking with the right
libraries), this commit also fixes some relocations on MCJIT regarding
the EH tables/lib calls, and update some tests to avoid using EH tables
when none are needed.

The EH tests in the test-suite that were previously disabled on ARM
now pass with these changes, so a follow-up commit on the test-suite
will re-enable them.

66742f023c Fix unsupported addressing mode assertion for pld
Summary:
This commit gives an address mode to the PLD instruction. We
were getting an assertion failure in the frame lowering code
because we had code that was doing a pld of a stack allocated
address. The frame lowering was checking the address mode and
then asserting because pld had none defined.

This commit fixes pld for arm mode. There was a previous fix for
thumb mode in a separate commit. The commit for thumb mode
added a test in a separate file because it would otherwise fail
for arm. This commit moves the thumb test back into the prefetch.ll
file and adds the corresponding arm test.

e9c0b5aba6 [DAGCombiner] Teach how to fold sext/aext/zext of constant build vectors.
This patch teaches the DAGCombiner how to fold a sext/aext/zext dag node when
the operand in input is a build vector of constants (or UNDEFs).

The inability to fold a sext/zext of a constant build_vector was the root
cause of some pcg bugs affecting vselect expansion on x86-64 with AVX support.

Before this change, the DAGCombiner only knew how to fold a sext/zext/aext of a
ConstantSDNode.

c628af024e Fix for PR18102.
Issue outcomes from DAGCombiner::MergeConsequtiveStores, more precisely from
mem-ops sequence sorting.

Consider, how MergeConsequtiveStores works for next example:

store i8 1, a[0]
store i8 2, a[1]
store i8 3, a[1] ; a[1] again.
return   ; DAG starts here

1. Method will collect all the 3 stores.
2. It sorts them by distance from the base pointer (farthest with highest
index).
3. It takes first consecutive non-overlapping stores and (if possible) replaces
them with a single store instruction.

The point is, we can't determine here which 'store' instruction
would be the second after sorting ('store 2' or 'store 3').
It happens that 'store 3' would be the second, and 'store 2' would be the third.

So after merging we have the next result:

store i16 (1 | 3 << 8), base ; is a[0] but bit-casted to i16
store i8 2, a[1]

So actually we swapped 'store 3' and 'store 2' and got wrong contents in a[1].

Fix: In sort routine just also take into account mem-op sequence number.

86b535b085 This reverts commit r200064 and r200051.
r200064 depends on r200051.

r200051 is broken: I tries to replace .mips_hack_elf_flags, which is a good
thing, but what it replaces it with is even worse.

The new emitMipsELFFlags it adds corresponds to no assembly directive, is not
marked as a hack and is not even printed to the .s file.

The patch also introduces more uses of hasRawTextSupport.

The correct way to remove .mips_hack_elf_flags is to have the mips target
streamer handle the default flags (and command line options). That way the
same code path is used for asm and obj. The streamer interface should *really*
correspond to what is printed in the .s file.

503793e834 Revert "Add Constant Hoisting Pass" (r200034)
This commit caused -Woverloaded-virtual warnings. The two new
TargetTransformInfo::getIntImmCost functions were only added to the superclass,
and to the X86 subclass. The other targets were not updated, and the
warning highlighted this by pointing out that e.g. ARMTTI::getIntImmCost was
hiding the two new getIntImmCost variants.

We could pacify the warning by adding "using TargetTransformInfo::getIntImmCost"
to the various subclasses, or turning it off, but I suspect that it's wrong to
leave the functions unimplemnted in those targets. The default implementations
return TCC_Free, which I don't think is right e.g. for ARM.

The i8 type is not registered with any register class.
This causes a segmentation fault in MachineLICM::getRegisterClassIDAndCost.

The code selects the first type associated with register class FPR8,
which happens to be i8.
It uses this type (i8) to get the representative class pointer, which is 0.
It then uses this pointer to access a field, resulting in segmentation fault.

Since i8 type is not being used for printing any neon instruction
we can safely remove it.

fb282c68b7 Add Constant Hoisting Pass
This pass identifies expensive constants to hoist and coalesces them to
better prepare it for SelectionDAG-based code generation. This works around the
limitations of the basic-block-at-a-time approach.

First it scans all instructions for integer constants and calculates its
cost. If the constant can be folded into the instruction (the cost is
TCC_Free) or the cost is just a simple operation (TCC_BASIC), then we don't
consider it expensive and leave it alone. This is the default behavior and
the default implementation of getIntImmCost will always return TCC_Free.

If the cost is more than TCC_BASIC, then the integer constant can't be folded
into the instruction and it might be beneficial to hoist the constant.
Similar constants are coalesced to reduce register pressure and
materialization code.

When a constant is hoisted, it is also hidden behind a bitcast to force it to
be live-out of the basic block. Otherwise the constant would be just
duplicated and each basic block would have its own copy in the SelectionDAG.
The SelectionDAG recognizes such constants as opaque and doesn't perform
certain transformations on them, which would create a new expensive constant.

This optimization is only applied to integer constants in instructions and
simple (this means not nested) constant cast experessions. For example:
%0 = load i64* inttoptr (i64 big_constant to i64*)

148c7f286c Fix inline assembly that switches between ARM and Thumb modes
This patch restores the ARM mode if the user's inline assembly
does not. In the object streamer, it ensures that instructions
following the inline assembly are encoded correctly and that
correct mapping symbols are emitted. For the asm streamer, it
emits a .arm or .thumb directive.

This patch does not ensure that the inline assembly contains
the ADR instruction to switch modes at runtime.

The problem we need to solve is code like this:

  int foo(int a, int b) {
    int r = a + b;
    asm volatile(
        ".align 2 \n"
        ".arm \n"
        "add r0,r0,r0 \n"
    : : "r"(r));
    return r+1;
  }

If we compile this function in thumb mode then the inline assembly
will switch to arm mode. We need to make sure that we switch back to
thumb mode after emitting the inline assembly or we will incorrectly
encode the instructions that follow (i.e. the assembly instructions
for return r+1).

bb96dfcf4f MachineCopyPropagation has special logic for removing COPY instructions. It will remove plain COPYs using eraseFromParent(), but if the COPY has imp-defs/imp-uses it will convert it to a KILL, to keep the imp-def around.
This actually totally breaks and causes the machine verifier to cry in several cases, one of which being:

%RAX<def> = COPY %RCX<kill>
%ECX<def> = COPY %EAX<kill>, %RAX<imp-use,kill>

These subregister copies are together identified as noops, so are both removed. However, the second one as it has an imp-use gets converted into a kill:

%ECX<def> = KILL %EAX<kill>, %RAX<imp-use,kill>

As the original COPY has been removed, the verifier goes into tears at the use of undefined EAX and RAX.

There are several hacky solutions to this hacky problem (which is all to do with imp-use/def weirdnesses), but the least hacky I've come up with is to *always* remove COPYs by converting to KILLs. KILLs are no-ops to the code generator so the generated code doesn't change (which is why they were partially used in the first place), but using them also keeps the def/use and imp-def/imp-use chains alive:

%RAX<def> = KILL %RCX<kill>
%ECX<def> = KILL %EAX<kill>, %RAX<imp-use,kill>

The patch passes all test cases including the ones that check the removal of MOVs in this circumstance, along with an extra test I added to check subregister behaviour (which made the machine verifier fall over before my patch).

The patch also adds some DEBUG() statements because the file hadn't got any.

da3446099d Fix pointer info on PPC byval stores
For PPC64 SVR (and Darwin), the stores that take byval aggregate parameters
from registers into the stack frame had MachinePointerInfo objects with
incorrect offsets. These offsets are relative to the object itself, not to the
stack frame base.

This fixes self hosting on PPC64 when compiling with -enable-aa-sched-mi.

825b93b2df [X86] Teach how to combine a vselect into a movss/movsd
Add target specific rules for combining vselect dag nodes into movss/movsd
when possible.

If the vector type of the vselect dag node in input is either MVT::v4i13 or
MVT::v4f32, then try to fold according to rules:

  1) fold (vselect (build_vector (0, -1, -1, -1)), A, B) -> (movss A, B)
  2) fold (vselect (build_vector (-1, 0, 0, 0)), A, B) -> (movss B, A)

If the vector type of the vselect dag node in input is either MVT::v2i64 or
MVT::v2f64 (and we have SSE2), then try to fold according to rules:

  3) fold (vselect (build_vector (0, -1)), A, B) -> (movsd A, B)
  4) fold (vselect (build_vector (-1, 0)), A, B) -> (movsd B, A)
